That started a downfall from which the Cubs have yet to recover. Some in the Cubs organization believe Ramirez's admitted use of performance-enhancing drugs was instrumental in spoiling what could have been their dream season.

Greed hurt Manny as much as anything, well that and having Boras as his agent. Had he played out the year in Boston chances are the Sox wouldn't have picked up his 20 million dollar option but even if they did, how bad would that have been? Boras promised Manny another 100 million dollar contract that never happened. In the end Manny made his money which was all he was about. I can't think that in the end the hit to his reputation is going to make Manny too sad.
