Stars slipping led to GM change

The signs of slippage are all around the Stars. Just look at the empty seats at American Airlines Center. And that's one of the main reasons owner Tom Hicks shook up the organization this week by replacing general manager Doug Armstrong and president Jim Lites with new/old blood. Stars players say they sense that fans will respond if the players do. "I think it's a quick fix," Stars goalie Marty Turco said. "Just win."

I think that Marty was and has been in Armstrong's back pocket the whole time. He knew that Armstrong would take care of him with that high dollar multi-year contract. Now maybe Marty will start consistently performing the way an All-Star goalie should perform. He, it seems, is always too eager to blame the team and never put the blame on himself. I realize that the team as a whole has not been playing up to their ability but to have been ahead 4-0 and then watch Marty just sit there and let puck after puck go in was an embarrassment not only to the team but to the loyal fans that continue to believe in them and support them.

If Marty no longer cuts it, there's always Mike Smith.

I think Mike Modano had as much to do as anybody with Doug Armstrong being fired. When your star player isn't happy........something's got to give! BTW, Marty Turco always thought of himself a lot better than he really is. He's overrated IMO.(DC)

Turco's overrated and the Stars are old and slow. What other expectations can there be for this team?
