08:02 AM ET 04.11 | According to Ben Roethlisberger, both he offensive coordinator Bruce Arians wanted to pass more than they did in 2010, but something was holding them back: pressure from others to run more often. "If he were, I don't want to say 'allowed,' but his preference would be to throw the ball more, use the weapons we have and throw it," Roethlisberger said in an interview this past week with the Post-Gazette, his first since the Super Bowl. "Mine's the same way. But we both think the same in the no-huddle, that we call a lot more runs because we know that's what we're supposed to do. And I don't know if that's 'supposed to' from the fans, the media, the owner, who knows? But it's just a feeling that you have that we better run the ball some."

And this is news why? The Steelers are a run first team, duh.

April 11, 2011  08:05 AM ET

Hey Ben...did you ever get your nose out of your earhole?

April 11, 2011  08:12 AM ET

They couldn't because Ben played injured most of last season.

April 11, 2011  08:30 AM ET

Be careful Ben might like that!!! He's a pervert!

you haven't been paying attention ....( i guess you watch your own team) either way we're not a run first team....we think we are but we're not

You're right. The O-line isn't that road grader type outfit the Steelers are used to and they aren't pounding defenses and eating up the clock as they did in the past.

had we had the ablilty to control the clock via O-Line....we might have slowed the pack a little....
(i've accepted and properly grieved)

Traditionally, Steelers run and stop the run...

... doesn't mean that passing isn't important.

But, running the ball is paramount in Steel town.

They still need to run though...

... cold weather teams especially need a ground game because frigid temps aren't conducive to aerial shows.

Besides, the best way to exert dominance is running the ball on the opponent.

The Steelers have a below average secondary in terms of coverage...

... they do not cover very well and have not since the Woodson/Figures/Lake days.

Pittsburgh attempts to disguise that obvious flaw with blitzes and pressure on the QB, hoping he doesn't have time to pick them apart.

If a QB has time he can make a great living on Pittsburgh secondary.

bizballer,

Poor game managament hurt Pit in the SB too. 3 and 5 with one time out left (1:02 sec) , turned to 4 and 5 with one timeout left, game over with one timeout left. Did Tomlin save that T.O. for preseason?

Both third and fourth down plays when to Wallace. What about Miller, or Ward to pick up five yards.

Why did you have to mention the Packs?

brotha68,

You are being too nice! The Steelers secondary is below average. Taylor is their best cover corner and he is average. Quickly, name the Steelers corners? They need O-line help and secondary help NOW.

Who's the last Steelers CB to make the Pro Bowl?

April 11, 2011  09:38 AM ET

Not sure, Rod Woodson? WOW.

April 11, 2011  09:51 AM ET

Now that is funny. Rapistburger is upset at the Steelers.

Has he drug any 18 year old girls into any public bathrooms while having his friends block the door lately?

April 11, 2011  09:54 AM ET

I'm wondering what the hell he is complaining about.. He went to the Superbowl for the 3rd time in his mediocre career. He has one of the best head coaches in the NFL. and possibly a future H.O.F rookie on his O Line ( Pouncey). Oh, that's right, He's out of the spot light and thinks he's off the hot seat so he can run his mouth again.. PITY

part of the grieving process is acceptance...i was giving it a try there...as far as where the ball went, that lies with Ben, if had we had more of a running game we wouldn't have been so predictable....
