Boucher's plans include Crosby

08:26 AM ET 04.11 | Sidney Crosby remains dangerous as far as Guy Boucher is concerned. The Lightning coach has heard the reports [that Crosby], the Penguins' injured superstar, will not be ready when the teams begin their first-round playoff series Wednesday at Pittsburgh's Consol Energy Center. Boucher just cannot afford to take them at face value as he puts together a game plan. "So to me," Boucher said, "he's playing, period." But Penguins coach Dan Bylsma recently said Crosby, skating with teammates but out since Jan. 5 because of a concussion, might not get medical clearance to play, at least in Game 1 of the best-of-seven series. ... "We're going to expect he'll be in the lineup," [Steven] Stamkos said. "He's the best player in the world. When a team has that guy in the lineup, they're a different team."

Five hockey stories this morning and only this one mentions playoff teams. FN really needs to hire a hockey guy.

And I see they recycled the Crosby fighting pic too....

Good to see Sid Crosby back and fighting again, ain't it? ;-)

Will never count out The Wings
As far as San Jose, Joe Thornton is the A-Rod of the NHL it seems....so maybe not
I'm not as in love with the Preds as most are...

Caps, Ning, Buffalo, Boston

Again with the fighting Pic. The Pens aren't playing bad now, they might squeak by the Lightening in 7. I'll say the Caps, Buffalo and Boston in the east. The Nucks, Wings, Preds and Sharks in the west. Can't be a real confidence boost to back into the playoffs that way.

you'd like to think there was a "gimme" series this year, but there isn't IMO.

my early prediction is :
VAN over CHI - despite injuries, I think Nucks make it past 1st round
SJ over LA - I could go with either. LA is up and down all years, and SJ is SJ
PHO over DET - sorry Detroit, I do not see Howard carrying this team.
ANA over NSH - ANA has been on fire, and NSH cannot get out of the first round

WSH over NYR - NYR too many injuries, and King Henrik cannot steal a whole series, IMO.
PHI over BUF - Philly has too many weapons, right?
BOS over MON - being a B's fan ... but the Habs always seem to play their best in the playoffs against the B's, so this could be another upset.
TB over PIT - I think this series is going 7 games, with the x-factor being TB's goaltending vs. Pens scoring.

My prdiction is ... that T&R won't give us a single thread on the winning teams! ;-)

I wouldn't bet my house against the Wings. There's more to this team than just Howard. He seemed to do all right against the Hawks yesterday. No?

BTW .... did you see The Datsyuk dance? Also ... I think they'll have Big Z going when the puck drops. I think they have more than enough to pull through to the 2nd round.

I'm with you. Detroit in the playoff has to be considered...always

If I were Boucher I'd be more concerned about Stamkos showing up.

Couldn't have said it better.

They are pacing themselves, Stranger. No need to jump right in with playoff stories. Give them a few weeks to figure it out ;)

Yea, the Flyers have weapons. But, if they play defense like they did the last two games of the season, they won't get out of the first round.

I make no predictions. Been burned too often. I'm going to enjoy the games and just lie about who I picked when they're over! One thing I will say.............I ain't counting the Wings out. Too many folks have gone broke doing that.

BTW, does Crosby ever stop gooning it up? LOL.
