Weis to ask Patriots for help

05:36 AM ET 11.19 | After a season in which very little has gone right, Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis will consult with a team for which almost nothing has gone wrong. Weis confirmed Sunday he would solicit off-season suggestions and criticism from the New England Patriots, his previous employer and current powerhouse of the NFL. "I think I've probably made several mistakes this year," Weis said. "The ones who know my system the best are New England, and I think those guys would have no problem telling me what things I did right and what things I did wrong."

Uh, Charlie, I'm pretty sure the Patriot coaches have been watching home videos of opposing coaches, not ND game tape (just kidding Pats fans). And really, shouldn't YOU be the one who knows YOUR system the best? I can see asking for comment on a certain play or two, but the way his team is playing, there's something wrong from top to bottom. The Pats can't help.

Oh Jesus.

Being an egomaniac doesn't help.

THE PATS WILL TELL YOU TO LOSE SOME WEIGHT FAT HEAD.

I hope Notre Dame sticks with Weiss, because I don't want to see 80 hours of "Is Notre Dame the greatest sports job ever" on ESPN for the next six months. Also, I bet Charlie Weiss sweats and he probably continues eating while on the toilet.

keep talking ya bunch of morons...you can't even spell his name

November 19, 2007  09:08 AM ET

Why do some of you purposely spell Weis' name with two s's?

Regardless, New England would be smart to not take Weis' call for fear his bad luck will rub on them. And the fact that Weis needs to call them shows just how lost he is with coaching in the college ranks.

November 19, 2007  09:23 AM ET

fair enough...he has had much difficulty coaching young players. bottom line is he knows football and will adjust. i don't think any nd fan will wait too long though.

November 19, 2007  09:32 AM ET

Irishfan,

Question is, do you think Weis will shake up the coaching staff? Michigan could use Corwin Brown back at home, ya know! :P

November 19, 2007  09:36 AM ET

Soo....you're going to start filming the other teams signals.? Dude, you need to start filming the other side so you can get a glimpse of what football teams look and play like.

warden....i think his o line coach needs to go. i like brown but he needs help with the d backs. nd hasn't had a decent d backfield in many years. do you think miles will come to ann arbor?

Can someone here make fun of his weight? I don't really think that angle has been appropriately covered yet.

If Charlie is going to ask for help, he should call Tryone Willingham. Afterall, he is the guy that recruited the talent Weiss had in past years. Charlie's inability to bring in talent is know rearing its ugly head in South Bend. Yea, call the patriots..for a JOB!!!!!!!

Oh....sorry...Weis........

Holy cow. Another moronic story on this website about Notre Dame. What are we averaging, two per day?

BTW - Charlie used to spell his last name "Weiss," but he got hungry and ate the second "s."
