08:30 AM ET 04.12 | While the Flyers intend to bring defenseman Matt Walker back, the matter of Chris Pronger was somewhat unknown as of Monday night. Pronger did not skate with his teammates again yesterday at the Skate Zone in Voorhees, N.J., as the Flyers prepared to host Buffalo in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals Thursday night. It is believed that Pronger has not skated at all since March 28, raising multiple red flags about why a hand injury suddenly would prevent Pronger's feet from continuing to move on the ice. Pronger is scheduled to address the media Tuesday for the first time since late last week. General manager Paul Holmgren said in an e-mail yesterday afternoon that Pronger remains day-to-day.

He's taking it very carefully rehabing that hand so he can pick up pucks.

HELP! Drowning in spam...can't hold on much longer...send reinforcements....yaargh....

April 12, 2011  09:00 AM ET

Skating isn't the biggest part of Pronger's game anyway.

Do you mean when it keeps getting into the Flyer net while he's out there?

April 12, 2011  09:01 AM ET

Needs his hands to clutch and grab the opponents as well as clearing the puck out of his zone. His skating has been suspect since his days in Stratford but his reach and nastiness more than make up for a lack of foot speed.

Doesn't matter. Buffalo wins the series regardless.

Ba Zing!
Flyers are stumbling and Buffalo has been on fire since their ownership change.

Pronger will be back soon if he's through posting Spam. (That's how he hurt his hand I hear).

Flyers aren't bored anymore - they've been waiting for the playoffs to start since last June. Goaltending, although solid for most of the season, is once again questionable, but it will be good enough to take care of Buffalo.

Buffalo may indeed win...............but do you really think the ownership change has anything to do with the Sabre's hot streak? If so, what's the rationale for that? Not saying that's wrong, just wondering if anything more than a coincidence.

Wait a minute! He's not skating because his hand hurts? Hmmm! Something smells fishy here!

Sorry, guys but, it'll take a major miracle for the Sabres to dump the Flyers. Pronger or no Pronger, it ain't gonna happen.

You're a little mixed up Roamer, that would be Averhole.

It's gonna be tough to jump into playoff hockey when he isn't even game-shape yet. If he isn't skating he better be on that bike all day long. Especially if they expect him to pick up his usual 25+ minutes a game when he does return.

Agreed. Buffalo went on a good run, but so did the Islanders. Doesn't mean they're getting past the first round either.

Tough to say. There's certainly been an almost immediate culture change, which can't be discounted (look at Calgary too). Ownership sent a message by acquiring Boyes at the deadline, and the players seem to like that message. It's alot of credit to give to an occurence that wasn't on-ice, but its awfully coincidental otherwise.

Also - Pronger CAN'T play hurt this time. They publicized what's wrong with him, rather than leaving it "undisclosed". Prongs has targeted so many people's weak spots coming out of injury over the years that players are salivating at the chance to pay him back. His hand will be getting chopped 20 times a game once he's back in.
