Martin's past has Miami ignoring him

08:26 AM ET 04.14 | There is a vacancy in Miami, and one logical candidate seems to be out of the running. A UM official said the reluctance so far to pursue Kansas State's Frank Martin relates to concerns about his past: Miami High vacated two of his state titles because of school employees' and boosters' recruiting violations, and two Kansas State players had NCAA suspensions last season. "You don't need someone tainted," the official said. "Our reputation is too good for that." New athletic director Shawn Eichorst now takes over the search.

Morning WPS, that was for you, just picking, I want him to stay with you guys. I am 100% like you, why they did not hire Martin is really beyond me.

IMHO, he the only hire for UM. I think he was the 2nd best coach we talked to. He has a tremendous record and reputation in S. Florida, and he WANTS to go back to that area. Nothing like hiring a talented, proven coach that is motovated to succeed at your school and prove all his critics wrong. Is UM's record really that pristine? what are thier other options?

If I were an alum, I would be raising holly he!!. Martin at UM makes as much sense as MA at Arky, and you remember how much he!! I was raising to get that done......I just don't get it

Sorry.....moring 0-6, sir. I bet if Pelphry had had final 4 success at Arky, rebuilt the progam to the highest point it has ever been in CBB & there was an opening in Big Blue, the alum there would be rioting to get him an interview at Kentucky. Martin has done that at KSU, and UM still won't talk to him????

My thoughts exactly. And who cares who they get as a coach as I do not recall them having much of a basketball program anyway.

Maybe we're taking it the wrong way. Maybe Martin is too clean for Miami
