Fielder looking for $180 million?

08:17 AM ET 04.15 | A good lot of fans believe Prince Fielder is willing to stay in Milwaukee. These fans posit that postseason success and a tight-knit clubhouse could convince Fielder to forego the lucrative contract offers and remain loyal to his team. Some are even going as far as to argue that Albert Pujols' impending free agency also makes Fielder a less desirable asset -- which is a faulty argument, in my estimation. Prince Fielder is going to look at Mark Teixeira's 8-year, $180M contract and view that as a starting point. After all, Teixeria never hit 50 home runs. Teixeira never walked 100 times in a season. Heck, Teixeira has only hit 40 home runs once in his career, much less 50. Do you really expect Fielder to be comfortable accepting less money than someone he is arguably better than?

In order to hit 50 homers you have to have a lot of things going right for you, so it's not just a matter of being good, which is why he only hit 32 last year. Better than Tiexiera? Not sure about that as Mark also has a great glove as well so he saves his fielders a lot of errors.

Teixeira is an outstanding fielder, singlehandedly turned at best an average infield into a league low error team. Not to mention he isn't an injury waiting to happen.

What Id O it would write something this off the wall? This is big chunky (Ortiz) muliplied by 4. The dude isn't getting up after trapping a grounder down the 1st base line. Look, the other stories on T&R are about unworthy award winners (Mauer as MVP) and please mention (King Catfish)Felix as Cy Young. The Prince of the Buffet has no business in the Teixera or Albert conversation. So, $180 mil is a start? He isn't (doesn't warrant) making more than $18 mil a year for 5 years.

Looks like the perfect guy to move to Boston as a DH. He can sit in the dugout on his **** bat in hand!! They get another bat and he don't have to pull a hamstring-er fat roll trying to glove any grounders!
