08:11 AM ET 04.15 | The Big Shamrock can hope his luck turns on Friday. Shaquille O'Neal will have two light training sessions and one full practice to prepare for the Celtics' playoff opener against the Knicks Sunday. O'Neal's status -- he has not played since sustaining a calf injury April 3 -- will not be determined until after [Friday's] workout. Asked if he thought O'Neal would play, coach Doc Rivers replied, "I do. But I can't guarantee that. Tomorrow and the following day are the big days for Shaq. He's going to try to get through practice and see what he can do." The Celtics had a film session followed by a walkthrough yesterday, the day after they ended the regular season with a 112-102 win over the Knicks, giving them a 56-26 final record.

Congratulations spammers. You've got first.

That's quite a bit of time off. He'll be so rusty. (snickering).

QUOTE(#6):

That's another great question.

Exactly! How many games has he missed... his timing, his wind won't be there. Did he get younger and faster while nursing whatever injury he had? Doc and Ainge are stupid to expect anything out of him. If he plays he'll be a liability... but hey when y're stupid enough to trade your best center y're allowed to be stupider to expect magic from a 39 year old player coming out of injury.... hahah. Lets go Knicks.

QUOTE(#5):

Does anyone thnk he's going to be a factor even if he plays?

we Boston fans can only hope. I just need his six fouls and his body clogging up the middle.

QUOTE(#12):

I remember when Shaq made disparaging remarks about Patrick Ewing regarding his age saying "38 ain't 28. I know I won't be playing when I'm 38." Now look at the big dummy.

No wonder the trainer delonted his wife... F Shaq... if he gets carried away and tries to play like he's 12 he'll get carried away Mutombo style. Lets go Knicks.... we'll put the nails on his career.

QUOTE(#9):

Yeah, but he will clog up the offense as wellIf I were boston, I would leave him on the shelf until they play dwight (if they do)

I can just see Howards eyes light up if Shaq is trying to guard him.....I see DH just sprinting straight down the court on every play as Shaq stands there wincing in pain at how fat he has gotten....

I mean how many mpg do you think he is going to pull? Maybe 20 I would guess. More likely max out at 20. So how much can you effect the game only having that many minutes. My guess not a lot.

QUOTE(#13):

This series is not going to be as easy for Boston as some may think.

The more and more I look at that match up I could see the Knicks upset the Celtics....I think they would have to play almost flaws and hustle at all time but I could see it now that the C's look like crap....

April 15, 2011  08:56 AM ET

LOL! When i see him play, i'll believe it!

Yeah but he will be nearly useless against a team that runs that much. I think that was being made.

Doc's words sound more like a prayer than a prediction...

Good morning good people
