08:06 AM ET 04.15 | A good many players will receive lockout assistance, to the tune of $60,000, from a lockout war chest. While Dallas Cowboys All-Pro linebacker DeMarcus Ware was supposed to get a check during the offseason, he's instead decided to forgo the money and spread it out evenly to the other players in the league. "We have $60,000 that is supposed to be paid to us," Ware told the Star-Telegram. "I gave my money back to help out other guys that don't have as much money. That is going to help out and bring us closer to together." Ware is currently in the middle of a $79 million extension that guarantees him $40 million. ... That's not the only act of kindness Ware has performed in the past couple of days. As WFAA noted, the Cowboys linebacker also donated $5,000 to a six-year-old boy and his mother who were seriously hurt in a car accident.

Too bad there aren't more guys like this.

It's not often that a player does something good and people hear about it.

There's not a whole lot to like about the Cowboys but this is an exception.

Class act, and the first thread in a month worth reading.

April 15, 2011  09:25 AM ET

That is a story. I am glad to hear that he is not wasting his money and has extra to help others.

Can't believe I'm saying this about a freakin Cowboy but......good job ware

April 15, 2011  11:14 AM ET

This is the type of player/person that every team NEEDS. There are many other folks out there doing things JUST like this but the reporting is not there. I guess they believe we would rather hear about Jamarcus Russell failing, Albert Haynsworth's ego and Dez Bryant's poor fitting pants than this. Hey, SI, we actually LIKE stories like this!

Beats reading about why we are stuck with Roy...

Way to go D-Ware!

Seen a few interviews with this man and he seems like a very humble and straight up guy. Kind of person you'd love as a neighbor--just good people.

Class act.

Cromartie is sitting somewhere thinking...damn, that can feed my kids for a week.

April 15, 2011  12:39 PM ET

D-Ware is a class act and does more for the NFL with his charity than a thousand PR people could do with their BS. Way to go D.
