08:19 AM ET 04.15 | While perhaps not embracing the spotlight, Jesse Scroggins is at least accepting it. [Scroggins] looks close to establishing himself as Matt Barkley's backup as long as he becomes more relaxed in the huddle. "I was fumbling words (last year)," Scroggins said. "I'm still fumbling words on longer plays but I know what I'm doing." Scroggins said some USC plays are 8 to 10 words long. He was pleased to hear USC coach Lane Kiffin said he was ahead of freshman Cody Kessler and Max Wittek. ... Scroggins admitted the role of a USC quarterback requires more leadership than he expected when he enrolled a year ago. "Being a USC quarterback is different than at any other school," he said. "Quarterbacks have to set themselves different. You have to be the leader you have to say hi to everybody. I'm a shy guy but I'm getting comfortable."

How in the hell does this kid know being a QB at USC is different than any other school? Is he suggesting HS because being a QB at any D1 school you need to be a leader.the kid sounds a little slow if he is having trouble speaking and is fumbling words. Short bus maybe.

Per the LA Times there is only one College football team.

Being a QB at USC is NO different than anywhere else. That is just what your blow-hard coach has convinced of so that you feel special. Guess what. You are not.

Some of the plays are up to 10 words long. WOW how does he keep up? Me must cheat and count on his fingers. Does this kid have trouble remembering phone numbers also?

I am surprised they landed both Wittek and Kessler

LUS, I'm guessing that both picked USC because of the chance to play in the NFL.
