Oregon's best shot at the Heisman

08:20 AM ET 04.15 | Is Darron Thomas a legitimate Heisman candidate heading into 2011? Thomas certainly is a gifted quarterback and he was a major reason Oregon reached the BCS national championship game last season. A player with his talent and experience cannot be dismissed as a possible Heisman recipient. That said, I wouldn't rank him among the top five Heisman candidates for 2011. Although he did throw for 2,881 yards and 30 touchdowns last season, Oregon still is a running team. I would be more inclined to put Ducks tailback LaMichael James in my top five preseason contenders. ... Full disclosure here: Auburn's Cameron Newton wasn't among my top 20 preseason candidates last season.

It's a little early for pre-season Heisman spin don't you think?

Told you...we need to set up check points at the borders with the other states just like we do for the ones on the Rio Grande with Mexico.

Your western border is relatively safe - not too many are seduced, or hijacked, to UNM or NMSU.

Don't feel bad I don't think $cam was in anyone's top 20. Although he did make the Forbes list odly enough but it was not for his play.

I thought your border was to stop mexicans from coming into your state and not having Texan from leaving the country.

Neither will be a contender after the 1st game

Wishful thinking??? :-)

If you are going to predict this then lamichael makes more sense. If he has another year like last year he will be sitting on 5000 career yards after 3 seasons. Impressive.

I go with James. But I think Luck has to be at least penciled in at #1 to begin the season. Unless a running back I don't see an SEC guy. Maybe the OU QB? Not sure about ACC or Big East.

Or are you putting the border up to keep out the recruiters...which are the illegals who pick your cotton and lettuce and bring shipped to an out of state mills for processing into a final good?
