Nets consider roster overhaul

08:54 AM ET 04.16 | Mikhail Prokhorov wants the Nets to win a championship within five years. They never will with the roster they have. The Nets could try to move everyone not named Deron Williams at some point this offseason to get closer to Prokhorov's goal. But they only should entertain trading Brook Lopez and Kris Humphries - if they can re-sign him -- if it involves a certain big man that currently calls Orlando home. We have heard if everything goes the way the Nets hope about five players will be back. General manager Billy King and assistant GM Bobby Marks will be active and aggressive, trying to get the Nets closer to being a contender.

Good luck overhauling the roster. The only player other teams want is Deron Williams and your not going to trade him.

I think the my Knicks might (wrongly) take a flyer on Lopez...

Try and you may succeed, Bro.

Its funny, cause there was someone on here yesterday saying the nets are 'close'...... now they're goi.g to gut?
Dwill ant stickng arond to rebuild when he can go wherever he wants

If the Nets are going to become competitive, they probably do need to revamp their roster but the 1st order of business must be Williams. To sign another group of players, then have Williams bolt would set them back another 3 years. If building a champion only took 5 years, somebody else would have done it by now, but they can become a factor.

He's averaging 20 & 7 on a team with no real help. What were you expecting?

Lopez could become a better passer out of the paint, but until recently there's nobody that consistently knocks down shots. I think his rebounding could also improve, but I also think that he's in there alone--which makes easier to box out. He's only 23 years old. He'll get better.

That was KIG. I said that if they were happy w/ the current roster and add AK47 then they are in trouble because they already saw what the current roster can do which is going nowhere...

So signing Travis Outlaw, a backup sF to 5 year $35m did not work out to good .... big difference of ... Having CAP money & Spending CAP money WISELY!

you also have to consider a year ago, most free agents dont want to come to NJ, they'd rather go to the nets or last couple of years, some people decided to go to the Heat and Knicks instead.... its going to take some time to make the nets attractable to WANT to play for the nets. The celtics for many years could only get so so players.... that all changed in '07.

being a celtics fan, I'd love to see Lopez or even his brother come to Boston, but the guy on the nets is vertually a lock to stay w/ the nets, lets just hope dwill stays and he'll def stay when his time comes to sign a contract.

in some cases.... certian players need to be used eeer played. there is such a thing as being rusty from sitting. I'm not sure if Outlaw was injured or what. I think its a test for coaches to find ways to use players right down to the 12th man. Thats a good coach. We now have Troy Murphy and I have say this, he's a victim of being so rusty, he cant even get going now.... And it wasnt too long ago where he was a very good player. My point is, get the most out of your players before deciding a person isnt quit worth what they're getting in return....

he's sooo young and he's playing a lot of vets @ his position.... He's already showing signs w/ just dwill. Not to say devin harris wasnt any good at getting him the ball... It was just experience and his youth that every year he plays, he'll be good, trust me. Joaqim Noah has Rose getting him the ball.... a little bit of a difference, so i wouldnt rule out Lopez just yet. I think he would fit nice on the Celtics....

the celtics in '06 lost 19 games in a row.... in '07 we won the whole thing. Over hauling a team is a lot of work, lets see if the nets can do it under new management and the russian. Its tough getting people to want to play in NJ.... Lopez and Dwill, if they can keep them, they'll get a nice power forward to compliement them.... Obviously melo and me-bron went eslewhere..... Its funny to say this b/c dwill just played w/ him, Al jefferson is such a hard worker, he'd be nice have on the nets. anyone have anythoughts on a forward coming to the nets?

What I meant was he looked like a very promising post big man his first couple of seasons and now is just getting pushed around in there. 7 rebounds??

The rebounds should improve as his body matures further.
