08:03 AM ET 04.18 | Matt Hasselbeck puts himself in the company of "probably 500 other guys" waiting for his future to be determined, though he isn't closing the book on Seattle. "There's maybe a handful of guys that were going to definitely get [signed] before the lockout began and I truly thought that I would be one of those guys potentially, because of my desire to stay and everything [the Seahawks] had told me. But it didn't happen and that's OK." ... As for his talks with the Seahawks, Hasselbeck said there was little doubt in his mind that the team wanted him back before the lockout forbade communication between player and team. "I think it's genuine, I think it's sincere that they want me back, it's just a matter of how badly," he said.

Sure he will. Too many teams need quarterbacks, and there aren't enough to go around. They can give him a big contract heavily loaded in the later years, and then cut him when he gets too old, which is going to be very soon. Or trade him and stick some other team with the problem.

I read the entire article yesterday and the TNR headline is a total misrepresentation of the content.

You could say that about a lot of teams. If he doesn't just sign with Seattle and instead tests the waters, Arizona and Minnesota will probably be interested. His only value is to a "must win now" team, though. No point in bringing this guy in if you're trying to rebuild, or if your owner doesn't care enough to even do that.

Seattle didn't sign him because he was demanding a multi-year guaranteed contract. He's 35, and has not been durable.
He's a fit for a, "Must win now" team? How about "must get hurt now"? The guy can't stay healthy. His injuries the last 2 years have been in the weird/result-of-dumb category. Last year 12 TDs, 17 INTs, 2-5 record in last 7 starts of the year. After the debacle of Brett Favre, teams are, or at least should be, wary of the vet who supposedly has gas in the tank.

I'm a big Seahawks fan...and they deserve just as much attention as anyone else...Dimebag. I also love Matt, I don't know if he's a starter for much longer but I like to think loyalty still exist in some organizations and I hope that Seattle will keep him because for what hes done for the Seahawks and the Community...he deserves to stay if he wants to. I proudly wear his Jersey.

Well, I didn't mean he was a good fit, just that teams like that are the only ones who might be willing to roll the dice that he might get through a shortened season without injury.
Even if every quarterback in the first couple of rounds of the draft ends up starting, there will still be teams looking for a starting QB. Teams are desperate. And desperate teams do desperate things, like signing over-the-hill guys who were never really that good to begin with.
