08:23 AM ET 04.18 | Not all morning skates produce such sniping, but it is the playoffs, and before the Canucks took a commanding series lead, the subject turned to Chicago's insertion of big John Scott. If the idea was to jangle the Vancouver Canucks by including a 6-foot-8 demolition machine on skates in the lineup for Game 3 at the United Center Sunday ... well, mission not yet accomplished by the Chicago Blackhawks. "When a guy 6-8 challenges you that can't skate? Usually you say no and you go around him and score," Canucks defenseman Kevin Bieksa said Sunday morning, when asked about John Scott's arrival in the Hawks' lineup. "That's what usually you do. There are a couple other 6-8 guys in the league. Why doesn't he challenge those guys to fight? I don't think a whole lot is going to change for us."

Quenneville lost last night's game because of Scott Stevens. They didn't even have to skate around him to score because he was in the penalty box. Quenneville also put him on the PP which effectively put the teams at 4 on 4. Dumbest coaching moves so far in the playoffs.

Scott Stevens? Didn't he retire some years back?

That's OK, I loves me Scott Stevens!

Are the Nucks this good or is Chicago that bad?

Thanks. I agree. And when I see "Scott" and "tough guy" well you know who I think of.

Let's put it this way Durk....Hank did not have a good weekend. :-)

Nucks are playing good right now, and Chicago, to me, just looks tired.
You can point to them having to play into June last year, trading away depth, having an on/off year with the winning and losing streaks, or any number of things, but hard to argue with the Nucks wins/Hawks losses at this point.

Not tired, just beaten. They look dethroned.

Good job, Staney Boy! Looks good on ya!

Karma is a beoch!

The Hawks aren't so much dethroned as de-Talloned. And a hawk without tallons is just a turkey vulture.

They look like Thanksgiving turkey to me: DONE!

"Bieksa mocks Chicago tough guy"

I didn't know Chicago had any. That would go against Stan's philosophy of "non violence" in hockey.

I heard he's going to work wearing a Luongo sweater..............true?

The Hawks are playing the playoffs the same way they played the whole regular season...Mediocre hockey...Simply not good enough. The team still has plenty of talent yet when the mates are starting to emulate the likes of Hossa...Well, no need to say more.
Too bad, this should or could have been a really great series.
That said, I hope Seabrook will be okay, that hit was so uncalled for.

I heard it was going to be one with number 22 on the back and 33 on the front...and a DVD copy of Twin Peaks tucked in his lunch pail...

Of all the off-season economy moves, the Hawks miss the Buffer the most. John Scott is a very very poor replacement

April 18, 2011  10:32 AM ET

Good on Vancouver for saying while the series is still going. I remember a lot of "tough" talk from the Hawks after the Cup finals were over last year. As Roamer says, karma is a beotch (I know nothing of karma so I hope he's right).

I like Torres, but thought call last night was garbage. That hit on Seabrook is exactly what the new rule is suppose to take out of the game. It should have been 5 and a game.

I don't like the rule, but with that rule in place, Torres should have got a major.

And anyone think they suspended him? I think he gets suspended for 5 games.

Ha, the 'Hawks could USE some Stevens right about now, but this actual move reeks of desperation. Desperation that's uncalled for too, to a degree. Its not like Chicago's been completely dominated to this point, even down 3 games - they've been IN the games at least. To waste a roster spot on a complete plug can't be explained any other way though - a gamble at best, a desperation shot at worst. Its obvious to me, to 'Hawks fans, hockey fans in general, and the 'Hawks themselves, I'm sure.

I think last night's loss killed the 'Hawks. I had Vancouver winning THIS series anyway, but now I don't see Chicago winning a game. I was depending on Chicago taking a bite out of them on their way through the first round though. Gonna be a tougher test for Ana/Nash than I anticipated.
