Pronger's hand broken again? Holmgren insists not

08:22 AM ET 04.19 | A recent television report out of Philadelphia suggested that Chris Pronger's recent setback was actually another break. However Paul Holmgren vehemently denied the report, calling it "irresponsible journalism." "They think they can throw whatever they want against the wall and see if it sticks," Holmgren said. Yet Holmgren admitted two weeks ago that Pronger had a "setback," but would still be ready for the playoffs. At the time, the Daily Times was told by a source not affiliated with the team that Pronger had a second procedure on his hand after he re-injured it shooting pucks at practice in late March. When asked if that was true, Holmgren said it was "completely untrue."

bottom line is that Pronger isn't playing, but Philly has a 2-1 series lead...
so Boucher gets the win - should he stay in net for now? I say yes.

"They think they can throw whatever they want against the wall and see if it sticks,"...Well at least they aren't calling it an upper or lower body injury...btw, where does a hand fit into that distinction anyways...In the middle?
Like the middle East...which begs the question...
Is it really in the middle?

Pronger's absense is making Philly play a more wide open style of play, which is a good thing...no Eastern Conference team scored more goals during the regular season, and since this team has shaky goaltending, playing a "run and gun" style of hockey instead of clogging up the neutral zone is a good thing for this team...with Pronger, they rely to much on just that, and honestly, this is not the strength of the hockey team

Philly should get past the sabres, but the further they go into the playoffs, the more they'll miss Pronger.

Maybe they call it a lateral body injury? Or an appendage malfunction?

Maybe, but i'll tell ya what. For being in his early 20's, Andrej Mesz??ro?? is the man. I like Pronger, but his best days are behind him i think. Mesz has really impressed me this year. Danny Syvret played a good game as well. Even without Pronger, our D is looking good.
I was against pulling Bob out of the game, and i thought he should have started last game as well.

Meszaros. I guess T&R doesn't like the special characters.

Irresponsible journalism ... as opposed to what? Responsible speculation?

Seeing Boucher in net should be a welcome site for the rest of the teams. One bad game and the Flyers are starting their revolving goalie door. They MIGHT get past the Sabres, but if you have Boucher starting for you, you are not winning it all. Just my opinion.

Does it look like the Flyers are missing Pronger at this point? The Sabres managed to wake up the sleeping giant. Miller may steal one more game for the Sabers but .... that's all she wrote! This series is over!

Agreed Nard Dog...goaltending has always been the problem for the Flyers since the Lindbergh/Hextall era....if they had a suitable one, they would have a Cup or two by now.

The only reason I don't believe this at all is that it was a story of Howard Eskin. He isn't even a Flyers-focused reporter. But we're supposed to believe that he has some "source" that no other journalist has in the locker room? No TSN, ESPN, Comcast Sports Net, Philly newspaper, etc has the scoop? Nah, Eskin just loves when people talk about him

He re-injured it by furiously pulling it dreaming about Rosie O'Donnell again.

Because the Flyers didn't go to the Cup Finals last year with him, right? With only 2 defensive pairings, right? All jokes aside, the defense is much stronger this year, especially when Pronger comes back. Boucher is an extremely streaky goalie, but when he's hot he can beat the best of the best. I like the Flyers chances as long as they keep scoring goals.

Goaltending is the most overrated, over paid for position in the game. With a great defense, an average goalie can look all world.
