Minnesota 'indeed' interested in McNabb

08:03 AM ET 04.19 | There may be a spark near the smoke that is Donovan-McNabb-to-the-Vikings. The Vikings are indeed one of the teams interested in McNabb, according to two people with knowledge of the situation who spoke on condition of anonymity. But obviously, no deal could be made until there is a new collective bargaining agreement. ... If McNabb is still on Washington's roster the day after the first regular season game, the Redskins would have to decide whether to pick up the $10 million option on his contract. His base salary for 2011 would be $1.75 million, but if he is on the 53-man squad the entire season, McNabb could receive a total of $12.75 million. It is believed that McNabb would be willing to give back the $3.5 million signing bonus he received last fall in exchange for his release.

Minnesota is interested in every QB in the league, so why would an interest in McNabb be news?

Except the ones on their roster. And who can blame them?

Indeed. But just how interested can McNabb be in playing for the Vikings at this point in his career?

Who else is he going to play for? There are not many teams looking for a starter who are willing to sign a guy with only a year or two left. Arizona, Seattle if Hasselbeck goes elsewhere, who else? Most teams who need a starter, and there are a lot of them, are still in rebuilding mode and should be looking for that elusive "quarterback of the future," not picking up a old geezer in hopes of doing something before the rest of the team goes over the hill.

God I hate my team....
Sadly, I think Mcnabb would excel in Minnesota, and been saying it since we benched him for Mother F$%$# Rex "I will never be good" Grossman!!!!

Go with the cyanide. Arsenic is much slower. Then one day you keel over. If they're not looking for poison, the medical examiner is going to say heart attack.

It is not like the League every team has a stable QB situation. If they cut him loose he is free to look.
OK, I will lay the game. Ariz, Seattle are the obvious ones. But consider this: Denver for a year if they want more time for Tebow. Miami for a year ( Because Henne is what most people thought he was when they drafted him) Bengals? and ANY team that drafts a QB and does not want to throw him to the wolves the first year.

That's just it. They don't learn. They just keep bringing in kids and dumping the weight of a loosing franchise on them and expect them to be the savior. Of course it almost never works out, so they get in line to draft another. Top QB picks are mostly cannon fodder.

A rookie could learn a lot watching how McNabb goes about the business. Say what you will, but he has always been a true professional.

That's true, but does he want to be a starter or a stand-in?
Minnesota isn't the place where every QB wants to go, but it's got to be better than Cincinnati. Denver might as well stick with Orton. Miami might go for McNabb, bit it would be a mistake. Draft one of the Seven Dwarf quarterback options, let Henne start, and when the new guy is ready throw him out there.

Come on people, Mcnabb's still good....The Redskins (my team), gave him no line, injured RB's all year, and no WR's.....even the GREAT Peyton Manning himself wouldn't succeed in Washington with the same weapons.

But the article failed to point out something that is very important....can he text just as good as Favre? And will McNabb pull a "I am going to retire...maybe I'm not...maybe I will"
Why So Serious?

From the point of view of either the rookie or his new team, this is true.
But, what does McNabb want? He wants one more shot. He thinks he's still got it in him. Maybe he'll take a baby-sitting job in a year or two, but for now, why not Minnesota? They got to the NFC title game with basically the same team two seasons back. Arizona still has some of the Superbowl team on its roster. Even Seattle made the playoffs.
Denver, Cincy, Miami, Cleveland, ... all going nowhere this year.
