08:02 AM ET 04.19 | Bill Belichick, with three of the first 33 picks, all but guaranteed he will again be a player on the draft day trade market. Belichick expects he'll get a lot of pitches thrown his way by teams interested in acquiring those picks. "We've definitely been contacted by teams below us offering to move back, and by teams behind us looking to move up," Belichick said in an appearance on Sirius/XM NFL Radio on Monday. "There definitely seems to be a lot of interest in our draft picks. And as you know we're not afraid to trade them." The Patriots own the 17th (acquired from Oakland), 28th and 33rd (acquired from Carolina) picks. The 33rd pick is the first on the draft's second day, which could lead to a day full of jockeying with teams trying to wrestle that pick away.

It has been a few years since they drafted real difference makers. solid drafts at times? Yes. But they need some home runs. They should be thinking about moving up all they can.
They cannot put pressure on QBs and it hurts them.

Agreed, Bill usually doesn't like top 10 draft picks, who require large signing bonuses for unproven players who take up valuable cap space. But if there's a rookie cap this year I can see him trying to get into the top 10 for a pass rusher.

It's a crap shoot. There's not going to be a CBA in place by the 28th, so we don't know what the signing rules will be.
Can teams sign rookies after the draft? Or do they have to wait for the CBA?

It's my understanding, nobody can sign anything until there is a CBA in place. So I would think a rookie cap would be in place for this years rookies............but then again who really knows for sure.

This way is easier for teams to fill holes. You draft and then you can look at the possible 494 free agents to fill what you did not in the draft.
The Patriots have to be looking for immediate help, not long term. Brady could decide to retire any year now. He has nothing lift to prove.

I love acquiring future draft picks- but it seems like the 2012 All Pro Team are players that the patriots could have picked ...but traded it!

Not a Pat's fan, but living in New England I get a pretty good feeling that Brady's not going anywhere at least until his new 4 year contract is up. My guess Bill's top priorities this off season will be a pass rusher and a left tackle to protect Brady. Matt Light is not getting any younger

It will be interesting to see how he views drafting a pass rusher- I think Belichick is a big believer in getting a player that is going to see the majority of snaps like McCourty did last year. So if he drafts someone early they will be able to rush the passer, cover, and do lots of things. I'm not sure if you get that from who wwould be avaliable at 17 or 28....he may end up spending another 2nd rounder on a pass rusher and develop them like Jermaine Cunningham
