08:18 AM ET 04.20 | Mississippi State wide receiver Chad Bumphis sent a skip into Bulldog nation. Bumphis dropped a potentially plan-altering tweet Monday night, saying he'd be having surgery today to repair a broken ankle. Bumphis told a pair of followers "I broke my ankle today" and also said "Pray for me and my surgery in the morning please!" After having an X-ray Tuesday morning, a Mississippi State spokesman confirmed Bumphis has an ankle sprain and would not require surgery. Confirmation of Bumphis' injury didn't come until after press time. Bumphis missed MSU's victory against the University of Michigan in the Gator Bowl after breaking his collarbone catching a pass in the regular-season finale at the University of Mississippi.

As much as I love State, 10 guys from a powerhouse Texas middle school program and myself could have put up 21. However, the Dawg defense was superb. A healthy D-Rob was bottled up after the first quarter.

Maybe he did break it, bit Moo St and Mullen is channeling Belicheat???

Nah, no Belicheat channeling. However, he needs to channel a high-end QB recruit onto campus. I'm hoping Quay Evans is a lock, but you never know with the bagmen these days.

You guys just don't get it.

He actually DID break his ankle, but he heals with SEC Speed, so now it has been upgraded to just a sprain.

By suppertime he'll be 100%.

I'm impressed the kid used real words/good grammar in his tweet. "I broke my ankle today ... Pray for me and my surgery in the morning please!"

Still ... it was a tweet (points deduction).

Good point. And he didn't mis-spell his team's mascot name (Trogans).

See, all you SEC bashers, the young man is able to send a grammatically correct and correctly spelled tweet. Show some respect now, please.

But I will say that since he got the diagnosis wrong, it is safe to bet that he's not a pre-med major, LOL!
