08:19 AM ET 04.20 | San Diego State coach Rocky Long did his part to spark a rivalry with new Mountain West Conference foe Boise State, which is 69-2 at home since 2000. During the league's spring practice teleconference, Long praised the addition of Boise State to the Mountain West this fall -- "They add a great deal to our league," he said -- but he took a shot at Bronco Stadium's famed blue turf. "I think they ought to get rid of that blue turf. I think it's unfair," said Long, the former New Mexico coach who is in his first season as the Aztecs' head coach. When asked to expand, Long said, "It takes the visiting team a quarter or two to get used to that different field."

That field hurts me eyeballs...

April 20, 2011  08:29 AM ET

LOL. I agree, get rid of it, just a gimic anyway, and it has run out of it's expiration time.

April 20, 2011  08:57 AM ET

sigh... Did SDSU really have to wade into this?

Agreed. The few games I've seen on that turf I've only been able to watch for a minute or two. Then my retinas begin to burn.

They probably can't dump it, the landfill won't accept it either. LOL

Nah, we need more novelty. Hawaii's "haka" dance or however you spell it. The sooner boomer wagon at OU, Ralphie at Colorado, USC Trojan and Texas Tech Red Raider horses, etc.

...but most of all...cheerleaders with less clothes on and/or in maid, nurse, policewoman outfits, etc.

Then don't watch any of their home games!! LOL.

Rocky Long, so you don't like the "famed blue turf"!!! I say tough ****!!! I know you have an opinion like the rest of us, but come on now, it's called home field advantage. LOL.

My thoughts exactly!!!!!!!

They have a lot harder time getting people to go to that field. I truly believe that is one of the stumbling blocks to home and home seriies with many AQ conference foes.

It ain't fair, ain't fair! BOOHOO!!!! Sounds like a pre-planned excuse. Myself, I like it. I'd like to see other teams use their color schemes. HOME FIELD! Plus, it would be funny seeing the BIG outhouse in AA covered in all that yellow!

It is beneath AQ schools to go up there and play...or to TCU, Nevada, etc.

Besides that they don't want to risk losing to the smurfs.

Yeh, I like to see them ride that wrambling wreck out on the field.

JK, the color of the field might be one excuse for a team not coming to Boise, but the two main reasons are the stadium capacity and the concern of losing to Boise.

Boy-Zee is just exercising a competitive advantage. SEC's been doing it for years with oversigning.

The field is still 120 yards long and 50 yards wide so just play football
