An air of finality in Phoenix

08:25 AM ET 04.20 | It didn't take the Red Wings long to run their hosts out of the building over the weekend, and whether it remains their building much longer is a question for the Coyotes. Consider this yet another punch in the gut for a tortured fan base, and the overriding fear is that the end is near, for the season and the team's future in Arizona. You could feel it in the building when the game quickly broke in the Red Wings' favor. The season could end Wednesday, and the sale of the Coyotes to financier Matthew Hulsizer still is not complete. Ominously, Hulsizer did not attend either game in Detroit, a short commute from his home in Chicago. He was not on hand for Game 3 in Glendale, either, and that can't be a good sign.

Oh, let the Wings win tonight and get the moving process started.

It could be THREE major soap operas cancelled this month.

"The tortured fan base" All three of them are in agony over the fact that there beloved prairie dogs, wolf hounds, coyotes, whatever are leaving them.

Hope nobody bought a bunch of those 25$ play off tickets in advance

April 20, 2011  09:34 AM ET

Winnipeg will win this series. First one in quite a while.

This team is more appreciated in distant places (like Winnipeg and Hamilton) than they are at home. But then ... hockey matters in those places.

Ironic that Buttgoblin so admires David Stern and yet Stern has never tried to move/add NBA teams to Saskatoon or Winnipeg.

On the weekend i listened on satelite radio to the Coyote feed of the Wings game. The poor announcers were having to pimp themselves out and repeatedly remind/plead with fans that there are plenty of 25$ tickets available for game 3.Game 3 playoff tickets in Winnipeg would run 100$ plus easy !

Sorry HC, in Manitoba the currency is sandbags.

It's funny, and somewhat poetic, that they tried a whiteout, or even if they tried a red-out, when the team colors for the team you are playing are red and white as well. Defeatist attempt.

Also funny that they talked about and planned on being physical right from the beginning...and then Helm forechecks, knocks the D off the puck, passes the puck for an assist all in one quick motion. Feels kind of nice for the Wings to deliver the coup de grace to desert hockey.

Yep. And the frozen mob would be lining up around the block to buy them. But, the goblin knows best!

HC and myself are leading a group to get the Yotes moved to Red Deer. Alberta deserves a hockey team as well...
