Seattle's best bet? Dalton or Ponder

08:06 AM ET 04.21 | Seattle's would be one of the more interesting war rooms to follow at the draft. There is no more pressing question in Seattle than quarterback, where an aging Matt Hasselbeck is unsigned for 2011, and backup Charlie Whitehurst is the only quarterback under contract. Top prospects Cam Newton and Blaine Gabbert will be long gone by the time Seattle chooses in the first round, but while TCU's Andy Dalton lacks elite arm strength, he could be a good fit for Seattle's West Coast offense. Same for Florida State's Christian Ponder, who has some health concerns but is also set up for the West Coast offense.

A doughnut? Man, I'd like a doughnut right now. An old-fashioned one, before the Trans Fat witches turned them all to cardboard.

You trade a second round pick for the Chargers for Whitehurst, and now you are going to use your first round pick on another QB? I appreciate that you need depth behind Whitehurst, but this team has a number of pressing needs that a first rounder should be used on when you USED a second rounder to get Whitehurst. Not a good way to utilize your draft picks.

You wouldn't want that doughnut!

Seattle definitley should not draft a QB, I agree. CB is way more of a pressing need and they would have the chance to maybe grab a real playmaker like Jimmy Smith or Aaron Williams there. Go with Whitehurst, try and resign Hasselbeck or go out in FA and pick up Matt Leinart and give him a second chance in an offense he could run in his sleep.

These spammers are getting quuick.

just can't see why so many teams like Ponder

Sign Hasselbeck and continue to develop Whitehurst. This draft doesn't have any obvious "franchise" quarterbacks. You might get lucky, but you're better off filling needs with solid guys than rolling the dice for some guy who ends up being a clipboard holder.

Agree completely I Must Break You. CB (DE?) or another playmaker at receiver is much more of a need...agree with your thought on Leinhart...Carroll did wonders with him at USC, and Seattle might not have as many "distractions" as Arizona did!

Carson Palmer anyone?

They will not Sign Hasselbeck, he's done there.

If Arizona or Minnesota doesn't offer him big money, he will come back to reality and understand that he's not worth much. Seattle will understand that they need him, such as he is, because Whitehurst is either not ready or not the answer.

So, at the end of the night, the fat guy at one end of the bar goes home with the fat chick at the other end. Not a pretty picture, but if you keep the lights off it's OK.
