Quarterbacks moving up draft board

08:15 AM ET 04.24 | It's now starting to look like the second tier of quarterbacks -- Jake Locker, Christian Ponder, Andy Dalton and maybe Ryan Mallett -- could start flying off the board as early as the tenth pick, with the Redskins (they allegedly have a thing for Locker), Dolphins and Jaguars being candidates to start the ball rolling. As the draft has drawn nearer, these players have become hotter and hotter. A number of teams already having investigated moving up from high in the second round into the first to land a quarterback. Among those teams that have made calls are the Jaguar, Titans, Bills and Vikings.

Could be an interesting draft. I just hope the players and owners can come together so that we could see those drafted players in action next year.

Can you say reach?

There may be some good QB's in this draft, but they aren't franchise caliber players and the teams that are pushing them up into the top half of the first round because they have to fill a need are going to be disappointed.

I didn't know Opie could play football?

Well at least this, the fourth article in the loop this morning, isn't about another "troubled player". There's still nothing to chew on, though.

What a mistake. These guys are second round talent, why push them into the middle first round?

Please don't tell Jerry Jones this - he'll move out of the #9 spot instead of actually taking someone we need!

The best Quarterback available is playing college football this year. What a load of duds.

There may be a couple of good ones in there... but none of them are 1st rounders.

I can't wait to see what the Panthers do with their #1 pick, and what the reaction will be if they do decided on Newton.

I hope for their sake they don't take him. It will set them back for years. I know I've said this before, but I hope someone from the Panthers' organization thinks the same way, but they should keep Clausen and QB. They need to continue to develop him and then obtain some weapons and protection through free agency and the draft.

I agree. One season (not to mention a rookie season) is not enough to determine whether or not any QB is "the guy", especially given the Panthers overall situation last year. Provide Clausen some consistency as far as coaches and offensive weapons are concerned and give him a chance to grow. He's played in a pro-style offense in college and has a good idea on how to read his progessions. Cam will likely be a long-term project, and there's no guarantee of success (people were critical of Tim Tebow having taken the majority of his snaps out of the shotgun, and Newton did the same for his single season of being a starter at Auburn). There's just as much upside to further development of Clausen.

QB's have become hotter and hotter because the media has elevated these guys from marginal 3rd to 4th round prospects, to likely 1st round picks. They've only risen recently because of the hype around the combine results by guys like Trent Dillfer or Damon Huard and lockout scenarios that are raising the idea that everyone has to get their QB NOW, or the world will end.

I love him and I was at the Cal game. People don't realize how big he is until they are looking at him. Pitfalls of being here in Nevada instead of East or Southeast. I worry about the pounding his body will take in the NFL, but we all said that about Vick too! When everyone sees his arm, they will be impressed!
