Now then, when can players be traded?

08:01 AM ET 04.26 | While a good deal unfolded through the evening hours of the theoretically-lifted lockout, many questions remain as of Tuesday morning. When will free agency start? If the NFL fails to finagle a stay, free agency could begin by the end of the week. With a stay, free agency won't happen unless and until the appeals court upholds Judge Nelson's ruling. ... Can players be traded? In theory, yes. But the league will ignore that issue until it learns whether a stay will be granted. If the ruling isn't stayed, however, the league will have to allow trades. And the union will push for that to happen immediately, since it will promote the movement of players during the draft, given that draft picks and players would be available as trade compensation.

Hurry up and make your trades before they issue a stay. Maybe that was the idea all along?

Whenever Lord Goodell deems them worthy to be traded.

God only knows what to do in this mess that the league, players, and the judical system have created.

There will be NFL football this season, kids.

This ruling iced it.

There will be no labor agreement... they will do business under last years rules... this will continue in the courts... maybe for a couple of years.

But - there WILL be a football season.

Count on it!

Goodell joined the choir at my church?!

April 26, 2011  08:39 AM ET

Yup. No irreparable harm to us here at Fan Nation. Thank you, Judge Suzy. Hey, how about getting out of that real judicial biz and doing a show on NFL Network? Something like, "You Be The Judge," where players get to come into a courtroom and appeal decisions by the referees from the previous week's games." Whiney wideouts saying "He pushed me!" On second thought, forget it.

Agreed. The Supreme Court has spoken. Years of litigation to soon follow.
