08:03 AM ET 04.26 | According to one report, Panthers wideout Steve Smith cleared out his locker at Bank of America Stadium prior to the lockout. Smith's locker had several personal effects, including his All-Pro award from 2005, the majority of which had remained intact for several years. He also cleared out his luxury suite at the stadium the same day. As part of Smith's contract, he receives use of one of the Panthers' boxes for home games. It had been adorned with photos of Smith throughout his football career. ... The Panthers could trade Smith when regular transactions are allowed. The team has undergone a series of changes since the end of last season's 2-14 campaign, including hiring new head coach Ron Rivera to replace John Fox.

I'll believe it when I see it.

He's ready to move on. Let's see if the Panthers agree.

Now THAT'S thinkin' ahead.

He is the only bright spot on a horrible team. I would want to leave too.

If he can stay healthy... he can still help someone.

He and Santana could be two nice FA Receivers out there....

My thoughts exactly.

Carolina might as well sell out to build a future. They don't have a now anyway.

April 26, 2011  08:39 AM ET

Pretty sure Steve wants to part ways as well. He's given everything he can give to that team.

Hmmm....an impact wide receiver for draft choices. Perhaps wheels are turning under The Hood.

If those wheels aren't turning, somebody slipped a gear.

I think he was tipped something was up.

Might be a good landing spot for the Jets if they cant re-sign some of there WR Free Agents

I think the best landing spot would be the Patriots, they need a WR and a vet fits their way of doing things. Plus if the lockout is really dead trades can happen right? Pats definitley have the picks.

Like if the Panthers are really drafting Newton, yeah I doubt he would wanna be on a team breaking in yet another rookie QB.

April 26, 2011  09:11 AM ET

The hoodie probably has his eye on him ..... all those draft picks

April 26, 2011  09:51 AM ET

Well, we already have one....so.....

April 26, 2011  10:34 AM ET

Smitty left it all on the field for Carolina and made Delhomme a better QB than he could have been otherwise- hope he's got enough left to be a factor for another contender

Panthers need a 2nd rounder... There will be a few takers for Smitty. He has some gas left in the tank, not much, but some. A team looking for that extra push may want to take a look. Eagles would be a good spot... Maybe the Panthers can use him as part of deal for Kolb.
