08:10 AM ET 04.27 | In Minnesota, where another game was lost to weather, when it rains, it pours. Joe Mauer is eligible to come off the 15-day disabled list Thursday but won't, Twins general manager Bill Smith said Tuesday. The catcher is still suffering from leg weakness and can't play. Mauer, 28, hasn't played since April 12 and has been limited to action in nine of the Twins' 21 games. He missed a week because of a strong viral infection and now is working on getting his legs under him. "He's making progress with his legs," Smith said, "and doing a lot of work with [assistant trainer] Tony Leo. We'll continue to monitor that. But he won't come off [the DL] Thursday. He's not ready yet." Smith had no timetable on when Mauer might be available.

Valencia is the thirdbaseman of the future. trade delmon and put him in the out field. let him DH on and off.

Stop ripping on Mauer and his health. He's a great player who would look good in a Yankees or Red Sox uniform. I'm sure they'd give up plenty to get a great player like Joe. Maybe some team would offer a power pitcher or a true #1 starter for him. Billy Smith should listen to the offers rolling in, just quit bringing up that he's a china doll.

Definitely put him in the OF in my opinion. It will kill two birds with one stone. You want production out of your corner outfielders, and production from behind the plate isn't as imperative. Get a good defensive catcher and let Mauer hang out in Left.

They would want to want him bad with his contract and recent history of injury.
He is a Twin for a long time.

Sad case....hopefully the Giants look at Mauer and consider moving Posey to first....Minnesota needs a healthy Mauer and Morneau if they have any chance at winning the AL Central (or beyond)....getting an ace pitcher has also got to be a priority......great new stadium, but unless things start to turn around quickly, how long will they fill the place?

Allegedly it's only and infection that caused to weakness in his legs. This shouldn't be taken as an injury, just an illness. Relax

The leg weakness seems serious and I don't think I've seen anything explaining it.

Hi, we are waiting him to come back soon but the main thing is that he should take care of him first. when he will come to field definitely he will be the game changer.
