Murray makes habit of not shaking

08:21 AM ET 04.27 | Terry Murray chose not shake the hands of the Sharks after the Kings bowed out of the playoffs. Murray's assistants joined the traditional on-ice handshake line after San Jose's 4-3 overtime victory ended the series in six games, but Murray himself shook the hands only of the Sharks' coaches and not the players. That led two Sharks players to express their outrage via Twitter. Said Jamal Mayers (Jamalmayers10): "Kings battled hard! Tough series with 3 OT games! Too bad Murray didn't have class to shake hands like players (who bled) and Asst Coaches!" Winger Devin Setoguchi (@seto1661) said: "Would like to know why coach of the kings Terry Murray never shook our hands?? Might be a first??" Uh, sorry, kid, it wasn't a first. Far from it. But was it rude? Not every coach congratulates opposing players at the end of a series, and Murray told TSN that it has never been his custom.

He didn't shake hands because it would be considered a "choking situation" to do so...

Billy "The Battler" Smith didn't shake hands after playoff series...if memory serves me correctly.

Mike Holmgren left Bill Cowher standing at mid-field after the superbowl and you never heard anything about it. Why is this news?

Murray makes habit of not shaking

It'd be news if his brother "made a habit of not spitting!"

If Murray does not shake then how does he get rid of those last few pesky drops?

April 27, 2011  11:01 AM ET

It is childish to not shake hands. It is equivalent to a baby throwing a tantrum. You win, you lose, you are a professional - act like one. Billy Smith surprised noone by avoiding the handshake - guy was a tool. Murray is not setting the right tone as a coach by avoiding the handshake. Be a man, congratulate the victor. If MMA fighters and boxers can do it - anyone can.

Aaaah............those eternal questions. I hate to think about Terry's answer.

He figured he shaked enough during the games.

Breathing deeper today? I admit that game was over far sooner than I thought it would be. Boucher looked very good too.
