Howard wants to lead 'my city'

08:06 AM ET 04.29 | From the NBA Finals to first-round fodder in two short years. The Magic's official playoff mantra has been "Blue and White Ignite." The official post-playoff mantra now has to be "Blue and White, Keep Dwight." The Magic have to do whatever it takes to show Howard he can still win championships in Orlando. That's going to be difficult after this series in which Howard was too often a one-man band with a supporting cast of kazoo players. "Right now it's about figuring out how I can make myself better; it's not about what team I'm going to play for," Howard said when asked about his future. "Right now, I'm with the Magic so all the speculation can stop." ... "Keep believing," he added when asked what he would like to tell Magic fans. "It's going to get better. I'm going to do whatever I can to lead my city."

Sounds too familiar:"Right now it's about figuring out how I can make myself better; it's not about what team I'm going to play for". D Howard is probably gone.

So what's he supposed to do. Lie to the fans and media like Lebron or demand a trade like Melo? Either way brings drama so all he can do is be quiet, play out his contract and let the ball bounce where it may.
At the end of the day we have to realize he's human with career like most of us so whatever he decides to do it's all good. However if he takes a look in the mirror he'll realize his chances of winning in Orlando is very very slim. They care capped out with no talent so all they can do is keep shuffling the deck which leads to 1st round KayOh!
If he's really attached to Orlando and wants to win there badly his only hope is some magic in the new CBA that will make his team the best...

I don't blame him. If y've been somewhere for six freakin years and still haven't found what y're looking for y'd be stupid to keep searching. Lets face it... Orlando is in the same boat Cleveland was in two years ago... they're stuck in terms of their ability to upgrade talent so if he wants to stick it out there its up to him. F loyalty and attachment to cities and coaches, owners and all that crap. The question is 'Is Orlando in a position to build a real championship contender? The answer is hellz freakin no!... If all Howard cares about is winning a title Orlando has no chance to retain him period.
If Ortis and Gundy accept that and approach Howard with the truth then maybe he may ride with them but if they try to sugarcoat the truth it will blow in their face. Howard will be gone for sure...

LoL... you know y're screwed if you have trade for Gabriel Arenas to have hope for a championship... Look at the supporting cast... Arenas, Duhon, Quentin Richardson... yikes....

Good for Howard. Hopefully for Orlando fans Otis can get the right pieces around him and get that back on tracks.

First round fodder because of SVG strikes again. This dude is a terrible coach, blessed with a good team. Nate would have destroyed ATL.
Should have focused on guarding Jamal, would have been a different outcome.

I dunno man.. they always have the best team... I guess you can say they're deadly every year but they always find a way to choke in the playoffs. I won't put stock in the Mavs even if they get CP3, Wade, Kobe, Stoudemire and Howard as starting five. Just watch their soft tissue will kick in soon...

He can come to the Knicks and get that dream team on! Or he can come to the Cavs and help rebuild, take his talents north, and be considered the new King!

If Dwight really wants to make some serious noise for many years to come, he would go to the Warriors, they have excellent young players to compliment his style for years to come.

For Real.... Curry, Ellis, Lee and Dwight on the same team would be crazy scary.... if they could find the chemistry.....
