08:10 AM ET 04.29 | Though Joe Mauer is down 15 pounds and hasn't been running or throwing, he believes he's turning a corner from a place that, looking back, probably shouldn't have included Opening Day. Mauer had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in mid-December and played in just eight spring training games, going 6-for-20 with four walks. "He wasn't strong enough to handle everyday catching," [head trainer Rick] McWane said. ... "Once the season started, he started to wear down. "Then he got sick on top of that. We've had a couple guys get sick. So it was just a perfect storm of several things that happened at same time." Mauer agreed that he had a "pretty accelerated spring training." "I thought I got myself to a point where once we got to the season, my legs would continue to get stronger and get to where I needed to get to," he said. "And it just kind of went the other way."

'Morning all. It sounds like Mauer has a while before he's back in the line up.

April 29, 2011  09:58 AM ET

The way the Twins started this season, they should make sure Mauer is totally healthy before he is back, no need to screw something up and him not be able to play again period.
Twins fans may have to consder this season a big learning process as their pitching has been terrible. Granted it is early and they aren't that far back, but need to be careful with Mauer.

The Twins were abused by the Rays yesterday. If they don't get some peiople healthy, they'll be out of it before they know it.

Twice. They made Ben Zobrist look like Hank Aaron. The Twins don't have anyone in the clubhouse to kick this teams ****. Gardy won't do it. Mauer's quiet.

zzzzz

Getting the top of the order back and healthy would be nice, but the pitching is sucking sheet through a straw and until that changes, nothing else really matters.

Um... yeah. Punto being gone is the reason they are bad. Really...
