Bruins coming off as poor sports

08:21 AM ET 04.29 | The Bruins are being seen as less-than-graceful sportsmen in Montreal, especially in light of the actions from Andrew Ference. There's been a great deal of poor winning going on in Boston since Wednesday night, and that's a shame given the high road that the Bruins and their extended family could have chosen to drive into the Eastern Conference semifinals. ... There was the up-yours middle digit Ference flipped Bell Centre fans in Game 4, later explaining it in a fashion that would have made Pinocchio blush. That was followed by Ference's Game 7 high shoulder hit on Jeff Halpern, a headhunting behind the play hit that levelled the Canadien. It was cause for great joy among Bruins fans, at least those who weren't responding with verbal abuse, charging Halpern with a dive when he didn't require a stretcher and returned to action too soon for their liking.

that is amazing...

Might as well be a pig telling you not to eat off the floor. Perhaps you should write an article telling the Habs that playing hockey should not include diving to the floor to get a penalty shot leaving the rest of your team short handed and giving up a game tying goal in game 7!

Yeah that was some awful hit by Ferrence wasn't it. It looked like he almost even moved in Halpern's direction. I couldn't believe what I was reading, then I saw that it was from the Montreal Gazette and then it all made sense. I agree with Ferrence too. The Montreal fans are all number 1.

I thought this was hockey not day time drama...

April 29, 2011  09:36 AM ET

really? Halpern skated into Ference. Ference slowed down a bit but did not waiver in direction or even body positioning. Montreal media is full of sour grapes.

cry me a ****** river. I'm surprised they didn't mention how Hamrlik was "speared" in Game 7.

What does one expect from the Montreal Gazette.....they should stick to what is really important for most Montreal fans...who is appearing on stage at which strip club.

Well he did take a stick to the throat. Not an intentional stick but a stick none the less.

And then flopped....

Headhunting hit??? Halpern skated into Ference!!!

April 29, 2011  11:08 AM ET

We in Boston are just happy to move on and finally be playing a team comprised or real men.

Does the color yellow make you sad, you Montreal jackwagons?

FLOPPED he did..he expected a call...but too bad. IF they hadnt dove so much perhaps he wouldve got his call...you cant go to that well too much.

It's all they know up there. They're kind of like those fainting goats: one loud noise and they keel over, and lay there twitching.

April 29, 2011  11:32 AM ET

i dont know what flop was my favorite...the subban hamerlik either of halperns or wisneiwski hits...

April 29, 2011  11:39 AM ET

Sounds like the Gazette printed a guest editorial from Baun or Puttin on the Tin Foil. Or maybe it was Rooney. Who knows and who cares? The Canadien players now have all summer to discuss amongst themselves their favorite color nail polish.

It was Kovalev who taught him to lie on the ice looking at the ref while the opponent skates in and scores.

What? Didn't you hear? It was Ference who sought out Halpern and drove his shoulder into him, deliberately targeting his head. It was one of the most cowardly acts in the history of hockey according to Tin Foil.

Clem, I think it's time to give the Montreal fans the spammer treatment.

Maybe Hamrlik didn't get the call because he didn't end up in the fetal position like all of the other "fallen warriors" on the Canadiens.
