Kings' culture crumbling?

08:20 AM ET 04.29 | Thought by many to be a team on the rise less than a year ago, Los Angeles was bounced from the playoffs. The Kings' second straight first-round playoff exit wasn't progress. There were individual successes, such as goaltender Jonathan Quick's rise to an elite level and the emergence of rugged rookie winger Kyle Clifford, but the disintegration of their defense-first style under playoff pressure was inexplicable and inexcusable. ... [Terry Murray and Dean Lombardi] agreed the absence of center Anze Kopitar, who tore ankle ligaments on March 26, was a greater loss defensively than offensively. That defenseman Drew Doughty had a better second half than first half but can be better still. That defenseman Jack Johnson, who joined Team USA for the World Championships in Slovakia, had a second-half dropoff. That the power-play unit underachieved and needs fixing.

Losing your top scorer doesn't help much.

Strange things happen sometimes in the palyoffs. As has been said losing your top scorer kind of throws of your game. I mean look at the Penguins, Sid, Gino . . . . . (Sobs deeply)

They did well all things considered.

The NHL will be mailing out the "participation ribbons" shortly.

They lost BOTH of their top scorers..just crappy luck man...nothing to blow up here.

I would like to see other playoff teams lose their top scorers and win in the 1st rd. Keep the team and coaches.

I'd love to see a player like Doughty carry the puck up the ice for the Bruins.

I also understand that the NHL will be issuing a "might have been" Cup and the Penguins are sure to get that. LOL

Terry Murray needs to go. He whined throughout the series and then showed poor sportsmanship by not going through the handshake line with the Sharks. This is not a man to lead a young team.

His GM didn't help him when gave up lots to get Penner.

The 'did well all things considered' line is getting old. Sure Kopitar being out was huge, but they had multiple chances to put the Sharks away in various games of the series and in true Kings' fashion screwed the pooch on each occasion. Too much acceptance of that kind of mediocrity. I just finished my 30th season as a Kings' fan and it is getting absolutely unbearable. 43 seasons as an organization and made it beyond the 2nd round one time.....argh!!!!! I am raising my son as a Kings' fan and I think it may be tantamount to child abuse at this point.....as I've said after pretty much every season over the last 30 years....there's always next season.

Gee talent wise, I'd like to have their problem. Stacked top to bottom and if they figure things out they'll be a force.
