Rapids' Mullan distraught over late tackle

08:05 AM ET 04.30 | Let us concede that the late tackle by Brian Mullan last week that broke Steve Zakuani's right leg was reckless and represented an indefensible loss of temper by the Rapids midfielder. But Mullan doesn't deserve to be vilified across the league. He made a mistake, and he will carry it with him for a long time, I suspect. "Whether or not anybody wants to take any sympathy for Brian, the guy is distraught about what happened," Rapids coach Gary Smith said. "He just can't get his head around the whole incident."

WTF?? 2 T&Rs on a Saturday? I woke up early today for nothing! Fuuuggg!! Thought my boy Cheech was playing today! It's Tommorrow!! Fuuuuuuuugggg!

I think your 3,000th post should be a long-winded sonnet on all the ways you love Cheech.

As Steve Zakuani was carted off the field after suffering a compound fracture to his leg at the hands (er- studs up feet) of Brian Mullan, Colorado Rapids teammate Pablo "Corpse is not yet rotting" Mastroeni was overheard saying "If it wasn't coming from Brian a few minutes ago, it surely would have come from me before the first half..."

He's our savior! He is our next Hugo Sanchez......I personally think he is going to be the GREATEST MEXICAN PLAYER OF ALL TIME!

I've been keeping up with him since 2009 when he was playing for Chivas....The kid's got the goods!

He is better than el Matador(luis gonzales), Borgetti, Hugo Sanchez......YOU MOFOS BETTER GET WORRIED! This kid's gonna do some damage come Gold Cup!

:D

What a load of utter **** from the Rapids and Mullan. So now Mullan is the victim in all this? You have got to be **** kidding me. Dude, it was a vengeance tackle. The replay will show, every time, you got dispossessed of the ball and thought you got fouled and then decided to go in hard on anyone in green. That you actually said it's a tackle you would do again tells me you're a hack.

Porque prefieres Mexico sobre EEUU?

Quite the inspired performance by my Merengues. 0-0 against relegation bound Zaragoza with 2 shots, none on goal thru 25'...

Exactly the type of response to Wednesday I had hoped for. This certainly builds confidence for the return leg at Camp Nou

Why would we worry? Mexico doesn't have "El Toro" Altidore. Kid's good for at least 10 goals over the course of the Gold Cup and probably 2-3 in the final alone.

DOMINATING posession over Zaragoze 69% with 2 shots. Barca's not the only side who can play beautiful football!!!!

Ah yes, the Crapanaccio style.

Somewhat related to the post, Sounders are also going to be without the services of O'Brian White for an indefinite amount of time. Apparently, they removed a blood clot from his leg at Swedish Medical Center this week. Potentially career-ending. And that's a damn shame because I thought OBW was well on his way to a great comeback year.

Aka jackoffanaccio. All of the action, none of the payoff.

Damn, talk about bad karma. Did Sigi sodomize baby koalas in a prior life?

Re: the topic at hand: It's pretty **** unprofessional and insensitive of the Flounders to have not reached out to Mullan.

So, looking at the bottom of the EPL, this is one of the more fascinating survival battles I can remember. The bottom team, West Ham, still has a good shot at survival. Blackpool sits three points clear of WH in 17th but they are only one better in goal difference. Realistically speaking, there are six teams in the mix separated by six points from the bottom up to 15th.

And we go down 0-1 to Zaragoza.

You have to wonder. Right now, the best thing Sounders have going for them is double Ewing Theory potential. Of course, this means more LBV also. Just a maddening season at Qwest.
