How Dodgers owners destroyed themselves

10:43 AM ET 05.01 | Frank and Jamie McCourt bitterly contested their divorce in court, and in the court of public opinion, during more than a year in which the couple alone could have determined the fate of the Dodgers. Now that Commissioner Bud Selig has appointed a trustee to run the Dodgers, the McCourts have not only lost control of the team but could lose financially as well, in what local divorce lawyers say is quite the cautionary tale. "They were so focused on destroying each other that they destroyed themselves," said Lisa Helfend Meyer, a Century City family law specialist who has followed the case closely.

That photo of McCourt almost resembles a mug shot.

marrage will do that to people

In fairness to the McCourts, they were well on their way to destroying this franchise even before the divorce came up.

The McCourts are SCUM! This all could have been avoided if Bud Selig had the guts to stand up to FOX and decline the sale to the McCourts in the first place. The McCourts had NO money. They did not qualify to buy the Dodgers, but Selig buckled to the demands of FOX who wanted to sell. The is the first step in a very LONG process to returning the Dodgers to a WINNER!! GO DODGERS!!!

But FOX is perfect. I watch their news channel and it is "Fair and Balanced." By bad-mouthing FOX, you allow the terrorists to win

McCourt has a net worth in excess of $1.2 billion, the Dodgers were sold to him for just over $400 million seven years ago and are currently valued, by Forbes, at over $700 million . So while McCourt has been destroying the franchise its' net worth has increased by an average of $45 million a year during his tenure

McCourt may be lacking in marital skills and baseball acumen but money is one thing he has in abundance .

How can they pick on this poor guy when he's obviously been kicked in the head by a mule at some point??
Looks kind of like the preacher who married Kip and LaFawnduh, maybe he has some nice Shoshone arrowheads.
