08:03 AM ET 05.03 | Ryan Mallett, like many who have come across trouble, would rather look ahead to the future. "I don't think that stuff's a problem," he said. ... Coming to New England, a team on which he will not be expected to play right away, and a team that has Tom Brady, could help ease Mallett into the NFL. "I think it's a perfect fit after watching film with the coaches when I was there. And me and Tom are kind of the same," Mallett said. "We're not fleet of foot, obviously. We don't run fast. We pick defenses apart and we know what's going to happen before the snap or we react post snap and that's why I think I'm like him a lot."

Hair extensions too?

May 3, 2011  08:04 AM ET

If he is, he should prove it on the field.

May 3, 2011  08:08 AM ET

Actually is a good fit.

Can't wait to see Mallett "pick defenses apart"...

May 3, 2011  08:08 AM ET

Other than being white quarterbacks, I think the comparisons can stop.

Will Mallett have a mullet?

Pats hammer defenses with Mallet.

More important, will he have a really hot woman?

Boston papers are filing this one away for future reference...

May 3, 2011  08:30 AM ET

Well he'll have quite some time to model himself after Brady... on the bench.

They're both right-handed, they walk upright on two feet, and they play for the same team, at least for now.

May 3, 2011  08:45 AM ET

If Cam Newton had said this...he'd be crucified in the press. What arrogance! You haven't even played a single down in the NFL.

May 3, 2011  08:47 AM ET

Don't get yourself in a hurry there fella.

The perfect draft choice for one of the elite teams in the NFL. When his time comes Mallett will be more than ready to step in.

He should be..... after "10 more years" of riding pine!

That's it. The kid is trade bait. Pats need a defensive end, not another backup QB.

You know they both played at TSUN I don't know how many games they both started for the blow. I would think RM should be comparing him to the kid TB replaced at NE.

Huh?

He's a lot like Brady???? - the hottie and the super bowl rings and the talent....maybe!

He does realize the Belichick hopes that he never sees him play a meaningful down for five years, doesn't he?
