Brees: Bush may still play big role

08:03 AM ET 05.04 | It didn't take long for Drew Brees to reach out to Reggie Bush after the Saints drafted Mark Ingram. "I saw his tweet, just like you did," Brees said Tuesday before Saints players held a workout at Tulane's practice facility. "I think that's just frustration a little bit, just because they draft a guy at your position." ... "You could probably look back to five years ago when Deuce McAllister was sitting there and Reggie Bush gets drafted as the second pick. So the roles have almost been reversed, and yet I think Deuce handled that situation better than anybody ever could have, and he had one of his best seasons in 2006. He was a huge part of our success. I think Reggie has that same potential to be that big a part of our success this year despite the fact that we've got three other guys."

But only if they can get him cheap.

May 4, 2011  08:06 AM ET

He's a selfish player, he'll have to be somewhere else.

May 4, 2011  08:09 AM ET

Bush is gone you can book it.

May 4, 2011  08:11 AM ET

He's out of there... don't know where but he's gone.

May 4, 2011  08:20 AM ET

Damn.... I can't think of anything to say about any of these articles.

May 4, 2011  08:22 AM ET

Okay I have something...

It would be wise to keep him on the roster considering the question marks about Mark Ingram's knee.

Now you know how I feel.....

May 4, 2011  08:23 AM ET

Bush is not about to take a huge pay cut, in this stage of his career, to be a 3rd down back with the Saints.

Try a cheap Bush joke. Close shave, bikini wax, Bermuda Triangle, something like that.

He'll play a roll until someone knocks him senseless. Then he'll roll over.

He is not what they thought and if he wants to stay it should be cheaper.

May 4, 2011  09:07 AM ET

I'm here just because I like to say BUSH! and not have it deleted by a mod.

May 4, 2011  09:21 AM ET

he'll play a big role on another team...

True... but how many of those contracts can they keep at that position?

If Bush changes his price, then he stays.

I didn't think about the 11 mill that would be guaranteed this year. IMO, Reggie Bush isn't worth half of that.

12 million backup RB?... I don't think so,,, Time to pack your bags Reggie

QUOTE(#14):

I agree with Brees but there is no way the Saints are going to pay Bush the $11M he is due this year.

Not a chance, only way Bush stays is if he restructures his contract... don't see that happening. Bet he lands somewhere like Seattle or Washington.
