08:12 AM ET 05.04 | Class A Hagerstown Suns outfielder and lightning rod Bryce Harper continues his assault on the South Atlantic League. His last 10 games have been ridiculous. Since April 21, Harper is hitting .500 (16-for-32) with six doubles, five homers and 13 RBIs. During this recent run, Harper's slugging percentage is 1.156 and his on-base percentage is .600. Overall, Harper is now batting .355 with eight doubles, six homers and 20 RBIs. Projected out to a 140-game minor league season, that is roughly 45 doubles and 35 home runs. ... Most fans might expect these numbers from the No. 1 overall prospect. But they may not know how well he is progressing defensively in his transition from catcher to outfield.

It helped to be able to see the ball using contacts now.

Adding contacts sure helped to see the ball now. "Double AA, here I come."

Just a text book example on how to run a money making franchise into the ground.

Ooops. wrong thread.

It'll be better if he can just shut the eff up and play baseball. It's not a doucher sport, so grow up, and shut up.

I missed what he said recently? Didn't realize he was out there smack talking...oh... wait, are you referring to that one incident in college baseball as a 17 year old. Because I certainly never said or did anything dumb as a 17 year old.

I guessing June 2012 will be his major league debut

May 4, 2011  10:17 AM ET

He SHOULD? Give the kid a break. I'll challenge you to find someone who has the numbers (i.e. produced those projections) as 18 year old in the minors.

Barry Bonds, no, not even as a 21 year old
Ken Griffey, close but no
Mickey Mantle, potentially, but not in Hr's.
Ted Williams, nope
Alex Rodriguez, no again

Where do your expectations lie with this kid? Any idea of how absurd that is...?

Don't need to - Give him the year in the minors. He SHOULD have numbers like this if he is as good as everyone thinks. So - lets see when he gets promoted.

Time will tell, won't it? Many a phenom has hit the lower minor pitchers, who usually throw heat and only a few have decent breaking stuff.
If he gets to AAA and still hits like this then he is the real thing, and will be in the majors in a couple of years.
That's unless he is a head case and succeeds in talking himself into trouble.

They can teach him how to play the outfield in time, hitting like this is just crazy

its not just that, it has been quoted that its almost impossible to find a person involved in baseball that likes this kid on a personal level. he rubs everyone the wrong way with his attitude. if you had read the last post about him not to long ago youd know that. the kids a **** and will most likely take many a fastballs off the helmet when he gets to the bigs

#9 - You missed his recent ejection(s) and the comment from mlb's chief evaluator that he had never spoken to a scout who didn't intensely dislike the kid. Milton Bradley II, here we come.

The difference is, he is 17 and has time to adjust his attitude.

Yes, and then after that, focus on the basics!

Bryce Harper meet Todd Marinovich. He will never amount to much. Way overhyped, and apparentlly, a sense of entitlement that would make Donald Trump blush.
