08:05 AM ET 05.04 | Denver's Nene has options. Take the last year of his contract, which would keep him with the Nuggets, or opt out of his contract, which could make him a former member of the Nuggets. While no final decision has been made, Nene said Monday he is strongly considering opting out of the final season of his six-year, $60 million contract, which would pay him $12 million, and testing the free-agent market. After nine seasons in the NBA, Nene has full control of his future and it could take hard work for the Nuggets to make him happy enough to return. "I've been here for nine years," said Nene, 28. ... But it's not all about the next contract for Nene. There is a large component of appreciation that Nene says is missing, and that's proving to be equally as important as the dollars.

Denver is in position to overpay him and will likely have to in order to keep him.

He could play for a number of contending teams, Miami have expressed interest; but do they have enough money? Orlando would have to do a little house cleaning to gain him (Arenas, Bass). San Antonio could use him but with age of Duncan, Ginobli, and Parker he might stay away; and the same can be said for Boston. The Lakers are not in the picture unless they shed some contracts that they don't want to give up on just yet. Portland will be an ideal fit, especially, if Oden can make it half the way back. Playing in Chicago would take minutes away from Boozer and Noah, Atlanta would be a good fit if Atlanta can figure out what to do with Josh.

Now the Knicks could use Nene's services.

Thats what I was thinking too if they are looking for a legitimate Center. However I think there are a lot of teams in that boat.
