Laviolette: Pressure's on Boston now

08:25 AM ET 05.04 | The Flyers have the Bruins right where they want them? Coach Peter Laviolette, playing psychology games, insisted again Tuesday that the pressure in this playoff series is squarely on the Boston Bruins. Yep, the same Bruins who have a two-games-to-none lead in the Eastern Conference semifinals. The same Bruins who won the first two games on the road. ... To hear Laviolette explain it, the Flyers can now play loose and relaxed -- like they did last year, when they were down three games to none against Boston before making an epic comeback. "We just put our comfortable slippers on," Laviolette said at the Skate Zone in Voorhees on Tuesday before the team's flight to Boston, where Game 3 will be played Wednesday at 7:05 p.m.

The B's can't let the Flyers continue to unload shot after shot on Thomas as they did in game 2 and expect the same kind of performance from him.

exactly right - Thomas has been playing great, but way too much standing by and letting Philly tee it up ... how many shots did van Riemsdyk by himself get in the 2nd and 3rd periods?

should be an awesome game tonight

I think the pressure is on Boosh to stop unscreened wrist shots from 40 feet out. If he can do that (doubtful) we may have a shot at winning.

I'd still like to see Bob more than anyone else in net right now. Bob's been shaky, but the other two have been downright dreadful. I like Boosh. Don't get me wrong. But if you can't stop wrist shots that you get a clean look at from 40 feet out that go glove side...well, you probably shouldn't be backstopping a semi finals game in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Well it wouldn't be wise, but it's been going on all year.
Laviollette sounds like like a desperate man. I like it.

Or a Leaf fan.

Did that Marchand sinker even reach the back of the net?

Good Morning, and welcome to today's edition of
"Dumb $#*& Coaches Say" with guest Peter Laviolette.

is Peter's butt jealous of the amount of $#*& that comes out of his mouth?

You should put Bob in. Booosh or Boooo is a back up. He wasn't good enough a decade ago, he isn't good enough now. Give the nod to Bob, maybe he steals the series and you know you don't have to go after a goalie in the off-season.

He might want to try putting on steel-toed boots and kicking some butt instead.

Nice try, Lavvy.

I'm bummed this game is tonight. No doubt I'll be watching the Wings get back in their series, but the Flyers/Bruins game tonight should be an unreal watch. Even with Hank's PVR viewing style, I'm bound to miss something.

...more proof that Lavoratory is not a good coach.
As a Bruins fan, I love the inept way he matched up lines. Now he doesn't get first line change.

As for shots on goal (which is an overrated statistic, really), here's how being outshot has affected the Bruins in the playoffs...their record when they were outshot is 5-0, and when they outshot the opponent they are 1-3. Go figure...

And if Lavoratory figures the Bruins will cave again like last year...the Bruins are not the same team at all. In fact there's only 9 left from last year, and Thomas didn't even play. This team is a lot better than last year, and people forget the Bruins were really hurt last year. Also, they lost Krecji, and without him they aren't the same team.

Instead of Begin, Bitz, Sabotka, Sturm, Stuart and Wheeler...they have Marchand, Horton, Kelly, Campbell and Peverley and Seidenberg. Big difference.

Do I think the Bruins sweep? No, of course not. But they won't lose the series.
