Ovechkin: 'We dominate them all game'

08:26 AM ET 05.04 | To which the Lightning might reply: scoreboard. Alex Ovechkin's post-Game 3 comments ... did not entirely go along with the "Caps were outworked and outplayed" motif that's emerged from this game. "It's kind of situation they have two chances, they score two chances," Ovechkin said. "Again, I think we dominate them all game. Simple as that. And they just score their chances. They play solid game on defense, [Dwayne] Roloson played again great, but it's not over. It is what it is. So we're gonna fight and we're gonna win....Again, we make mistakes, and they used two mistakes and they scored."

The Lightning have had numerous goals go in off Caps players (or with Caps players rubbing out their own tender) but you do have to create your own luck...

Only one thing counts Ovie. And the team lost, again.

Steve Heatley is learning how to win in the playoffs.

But Slappy, he put tape on his skates.

The Caps cant be happy with the play of Backstrum and Semin with the dough their putting out over the next few years. Looks like Kovalev pts 2 and 3.

Exactly! Spare us AO! Save the "domination" thing for the games you play with your girlfriend. How about you, Semin and the rest of them bums **** up and score some goals! This is the time of year when they actually mean something!

Who is Steve Heatley again?

shoulda, woulda, coulda.... heck, Ovie, you SHOULDA just kept your mouth shut and started playing for keeps. 2nd round bounce looks pretty bad on your resume when the east was yours to take this year.

Just getting on Hank. He figures Stamkos is the next Heatley.

Hank is of the opinion that Stamkos is a disappearing act in the playoffs, like one Dany Heatley.

Were they ever fillet-ing Backstrom last night. Not often Mcguire is critical (he prefers to slurp), but he was burying Backstrom, with good reason.

The only defence I can give him is that he's been brutal all season. 104 points last year, if I remember right, 65 points this year. Maybe he's hurt, maybe he's fat, I don't know, but he's not the same guy he was last year before signing that contract.

Semin should be no surprise. He's done this his whole career, and is notorious for taking shifts/games/weeks off.

They aren't Kovalev 2 and 3 though - some Pittsburgh fans say Malkin is 2, but I'd say Yashin had that locked up for years, ha.

You can "dominate" the other team all night long, but none of that matters...

All that matters is what the scoreboard shows when the clock hits zero for the final time each night...

The top teams in the NHL know how to play the Caps... Limit Ovechkin's damage and shut down the rest of the team... At least the Caps have learned how to play a little defense...

You can throw Backstroms name in there as well. Roloson has been solid but the Caps do have the lineup to get a few past him. I don't think Washington is getting outcoached but they are getting outplayed.

Lot's of time left...

Ok boys heres a what if. Rest the 41 year old Roloson tonight? No way they win this one anyways and come back for a big win in game five. Discuss...

Isn't that how to play ANY team? Limit their best player, shut down the rest?
