Lakers collapse being pinned on Gasol

08:12 AM ET 05.05 | Phil Jackson said Pau Gasol looked tired and Andrew Bynum said the teammates had "trust issues," but Lakers fans may have been most harsh. Every time he touched the ball, the murmur grew, and grew, until finally, the sound of a collapsing Lakers season cascaded around the skinny guy's shaky shoulders. The booing fans knew it. The annoyed Lakers felt it. History will eventually record it, and it will be about as pretty as the skinny guy's haircut. ... You want a scapegoat for a 93-81 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday in Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals? You want to attach a name to a two-games-to-none deficit that will be historically improbable to overcome? Gasol is, sadly, your man.

Bad enough that Odom almost stripped the guys face off... but that at least didn't look malicious. WTF was Artest thinking he was going to accomplish?

Well played Mavs!!!

May 5, 2011  08:36 AM ET

These Mavs are very different. You can't push them around. Chandler & Haywood are a nice 1-2 punch.

Lakers fans blaming Gasol as usual. Just like one man can't win a game by himself, one man can't lose a game by himself. How about blaming that bench? Horrible bench. Lamar Kardashian is no longer interested in winning championships. Fisher is just about done. No one is looking at him fading under the lights. People say that Fisher struggles against quicker PGs but here he has a old Jason Kidd and still being owned yet Lakers fans continue to blame Pau who has to deal with one of the all time great players in NBA history. Cut the guy some slack. Pau is the LAST thing the Lakers should be worried about.

Steve Black, Shanell Brown, Lamar Odom, Fisher, and Ron Artest has been non existent yet the blame goes to Pau? I don't understand Laker Nation. Pau actually played ok. He had a play in which he let Stevenson block him from the back. That was pretty bad but then HE COMES RIGHT BACK with a steal and SLAM DUNKS it. Lol. I mean, the guy is leaving his heart out there on the court.

Trust when i say that i can find A LOT more problems with the Lakers than Pau.

Artest was looking to kill somebody the ENTIRE game, and just like the wuss he is, he finally picked on the midget on the court. Had he been man enuf, he should have shoved Chandler or Haywood or someone of size. He got a man totally defenseless. Ball-less Artest indeed!!
