Upheaval in Phillies bullpen

08:14 AM ET 05.05 | Not much has been easy in the Philly bullpen this season. A month of games has created bullpen upheaval for these Phillies. Some of it was made necessary because of injuries, namely to closer Jose Contreras. But although the relievers have pitched the fewest innings of any National League bullpen, 28 games was enough to redefine roles. Wednesday brought more change. Left-hander J.C. Romero was activated from the disabled list and right-hander David Herndon was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. ... Herndon, in 10 2/3 innings this season, had a 9.28 ERA and walked seven batters. "He's fighting himself right now," pitching coach Rich Dubee said. "He hasn't had very good presence on the mound."

I wouldn't say it's much of a problem. The rookie Stutes is looking good and Bastardo is filthy (get it?).

How is there "upheaval" in the bullpen? JC Romero came off the DL. Herndon got sent down with a +9 ERA. Is there something I'm missing here? Not to mention they have the best record in the National League. Keep trying Gelb.

Upheaval in the bullpen? Do they even need one?

5th best bullpen ERA in baseball. If they're in upheaval now, then they'll be filthy when they get settled.

Jackass writer...

Romero comes off of the DL, Herndon goes down....

Horrible, HORRIBLE upheaval... I wish someone would heave Baez off a f*cking cliff.

How seriously can you take the opinion of someone named "BushIsRight"? When the Phils take the field tonight, will points be added or deducted for their number of losses as an organization, or the number of championships they've won? BushIsRight, stick to what you understand: rooting for the Yankees, living in your mom's basement, and spanking it to photoshop pics of Sarah Palin.

when your offense scores dang near 6 runs a game and your starters go average of 7.5 innings a start.....so?

Silly article. Herndon is either not ready or just not big league material. Baez is pretty bad, too. Besides that, the 'pen is alright. When they even need them; I think there have been on 2 games when the starter didn't go a full 6, most of them hit 7th, a bunch to the 8th, and 5(?) complete games.
