08:33 AM ET 05.05 | Of all players who might miss next season's opener, this would be a shame. Ducks defenseman Toni Lydman underwent successful surgery Monday to fix a torn labrum in his right shoulder and is expected to be fully recovered in five months, a club spokesman said. Based on the recovery timetable, it is possible that Lydman may not be ready for the start of the 2011-12 season when the Ducks head to his native Finland to face Buffalo on Oct. 7 in Helsinki. Lydman had been playing with the torn labrum for well over two months according to general manager Bob Murray. The veteran is coming off a strong season as his plus-32 rating put him in a three-way tie for second in the NHL behind Boston's Zdeno Chara. He also contributed three goals and 25 points.

No but they're all big fans of "Wheel of Fortune" and have taken the phrase "I'd like to buy a vowel" to another level.

Man, hopefully we can get a full season of Lydman. If I remember correctly, when Lydman had bouts of dizziness early in the season (first 3, 4 games), we were horrendous. That was our worst hockey of the season until Lyd stepped in. He's our most consistent D-man, and maybe our toughest, so I would hate to lose him for the opener. GO DUCKS!
