Rangers ready to dump Drury for new captain?

08:21 AM ET 05.06 | There is a little what-might-have-been to Ryan Callahan's 2010-11 season. In 60 games, the right wing established career highs with 23 goals and 25 assists, led the Rangers with 10 power play goals and averaged 19:54 per game. Callahan was the de facto captain of the Blueshirts for much of the season with Chris Drury battling injuries, and likely set himself up to wear the "C" next season if the Rangers buy out the final year of the 34-year-old's contract. Callahan also missed six weeks in the middle of the season with a broken hand suffered blocking a Kris Letang shot in Pittsburgh, and had to sit out for the final two regular-season games and the playoffs after a Zdeno Chara slap shot at the end of the game on April 4 broke his ankle.

in hindsight - the Gomez and Drury signings (among others) by the NYR, was just a horrible waste.

Teach Callahan how to block a shot without breaking something and he should be fine. Why not make The Avery captain?

WHy buy him out? Send him to the AHL for a year and save the Cap space for someone. Or wait on the decision until after your sign someone, THEN send him down. Either way, I wouldn't buy him out. Plus, with him in the "A", he can be called up for next year's playoffs (if healthy) as there is no Cap in the second season.

Luongo...that project didn't work out so well.
As per Drury, I'd say they can't get rid of him....but they managed to get the Habs to take Gomez....so pick up the phone and give Gauthier a call, make him an offer he can't refuse!

He has a no movement. Buy him out and take the hit. To me he never played enough to ever be our captain anyways.

There is no Canuck thread, so I'll post my thoughts here...
Does Jim Hughson and Craig Simpson piss anyone else off? They are good commentators for Eastern Conference games, but when they call any Western Conference game, which they usually do, their homerism kills me. They love the Canucks, and they are clearly bias and rooting for the Canucks. Any penalty against Vancouver is a bad call, and call for Vancouver is a great call. Even sometimes the ref calls a penalty against the Preds and they are mad cause they thought there should have been two called.
And what also pisses me off is the stupid diving of the Canucks...

I see the Preds doing the best with what they have, but it's obviously not enough.

And now you know how it feels for the rest of the country to watch the CBC at 7pm ET on any Saturday.
Not particularly fun is it?
Canuck eh?

It's different watching two crappy teams play and homer commentators, Bob Cole is no Leaf homer...

Then why do the Canucks have to dive?

It can't look good to future FA's if they keep putting their high priced talent in the minors. Some guys might be willing to take a few schekles less knowing they will stay in the NHL then go to a team where they might be in the AHL in a few years.
And Calli should be next captain.
