09:11 AM ET 05.07 | The Phoenix Coyotes are expected to stay in Glendale at least one more season, with or without a permanent owner, if the City Council pledges another $25 million to the National Hockey League. The cash would go to offset team and arena losses. The council will vote on the pledge Tuesday. The arrangement eases pressure on Glendale to complete a deal among the city, the NHL and a buyer.

Move them already! Hockey in Arizona was always a bad idea. It will never be more than pro wrestling or sunday drag racing to that market.

don't see how a city the size of Glendale and find the money in this economy to do this..

I'm glad I'm not a tax payer there. Hockey might have worked had they put the rink in a more accessable part of town. As I understand it Glendale is a far out burb from downtown PHX, and most of the ppl that would have bought season tickets live in Scotsdale, the other side of town. Similar problem with the Thrashers, the rink is in a crappy area.

I smell a backdoor deal by Bettman to hold off Goldwater.

You're probably correct Buc. If anybody knows a "backdoor deal" it's the Buttgoblin.

Just to remind everybody that there's actually hockey on today.

How about The O'Brian eh?

Can you actually say that?
It's hockey, when it's the playoffs...with the Sedins?
Just wondering...

This whole Coyote delay is such a farce. Had they put this much effort into promoting and keeping an NHL team there when they had one, they might..(Big Might)...not have this problem today...that said, even if by some miracle they were to hang on to the team for another seasonal stay of execution...as it would be, simply because once they were granted more time, interest by the populous would soon evaporate into the clouds once again.

As opposed to discussing the Yotes?

Yes I can say that.

Yeah , Arizona. Now, I'm not bashing AZ, I actually like the southwest, but as I've said all along the NHL doesn't belong there.

Arizona has some of the most senic views in the states. The players love it here also.

Well, at least the Wings didn't get swept. They do have it in them to win 4 in a row.
