09:44 AM ET 05.07 | NBA sources indicate the Warriors are drawing up a large candidate pool and are telling people they are putting a priority on a "veteran." That might put a focus on Boston assistant Lawrence Frank and Dallas assistant Dwane Casey, who have both had head-coaching experience.

Touche...

It may be 1 of 30 jobs... but it ain't much of one.

What else are they going to do but to look for candidates as that job is vacant

The Warriors are almost guaranteed to make the wrong move. I have 2 words about the Warriors personnel choices. Todd Fuller (who?) Fuller is the player they chose with Kobe Bryant still on the board.

Oh yeah, I remember Todd Fuller, but that was a long time ago. I think the Warriors have learned their lesson since then.

I'm as critical of the Warriors as anybody, but, really, this wasn't the dumb move you suggest. If I recall correctly, it was well-known that Kobe was not going to go to just any team that drafted him. In fact, he was drafted by the Charlotte Hornets for the Lakers, who did so in exchange for Vlade Divac. According to wikipedia (quoting Jerry West), the Lakers did not tell the Hornets who to draft until 5 minutes before the pick. Bryant had scrimmaged for the Lakers (and, apparently, few other teams) and was basically flying under the radar, on purpose, to avoid being drafted by other teams.

The Warriors made lots of mistakes. Picking Fuller over Kobe was not one of them. Not because Fuller was a good pick but, instead, because few NBA teams knew of Kobe and of those who did, most realized he would not play for them. He was a HS player--he could have just gone on to college. So, those teams, like the Warriors, made other choices.
