A's preparing to clean house?
The trading of Marco Scutaro to Toronto could be the first sign that the A's are thinking about a total rebuilding plan, which could mean trading Dan Haren, Joe Blanton, and Huston Street. If they do that, they're going to acquire a boatload of young players. The Red Sox, Yankees, and Mets would surely be three of the teams interested in Haren if he's made available.

For the most part, I ve backed Billy Beane and his strategic moves, but the Haren, Blanton, and Street triumvirate is pure gold and should be allowed to mature into the cornerstone of championship runs. Sometimes the best move is standing pat. I d like to see, for once, how far a modern day A s team can go without losing it stars to the seductive God of future prospects. Let em play, let em become a team, and let us stop looking for answers 5 years down the road. Looking to the future is great, but not if it bankrupts the present. Make the commitment.

The Giants could learn from Billy Beane, and should read the opinions of BCranky. Even if they suck for a couple more years, the Giants have pitching, and don't need power hitters in that park. I agree wholeheartedly, BCranky.

Man I wish we had the prospects to get Haren back. You think they'd take Mulder back for him if we let them keep Calero?
OK, that was a rhetorical question.

In my opinion, Billy Beane should trade the "next big 3".
The team doesn't have the bats to compete with Anaheim in the West, and the wild card will be coming out of the AL East for at least the next 10 years.
The A's can't draw in Oakland. Even when they win, they can't draw. With the park in Fremont, they'll draw, and be able to not only keep their budding stars, but sign a free agent or two. Until that happens, they're in trouble with the Angels cracking open the bank.
Best to trade some guys out, and get prospects that will help you open the new ballpark.
I'm even for trading E. Chavez at the deadline after he shows he can come back from yet another surgery.
Hard to be an A's fan, but it could be worse.

The Giants could afford to lose a few more seasons and retool, the A's can't. The Giants have a big mortgage, and they have to average about 32,000 butts in the seats just to break even. Giants management obviously doesn't think they can average that attendance without a marquee.
The A's can't draw even with a marquee. So might as well wait until Fremont Stadium opens up.

Haren to the Cubs for E Patterson, S Marshall and M Murton. They should keep at least two of those three and make one, Haren or Blanton but not Street, available for help.
Beane has a plan worry not A's fans all six of you. Do the A's have more than six fans? If so, where are they when the A's play at home?
Here is a off the wall idea, move the A's back to Philly where they started.
