09:28 AM ET 05.08 | Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor and Flip Saunders, who resides in Medina, have remained friends despite Saunders' firing by then-vice president Kevin McHale six years ago. If a buyout could be arranged with Washington, it wouldn't be surprising if Saunders were considered for the Wolves coaching job once a buyout of Kurt Rambis' contract is completed.

The Washington gig has been a nightmare. He was hired to coach Arenas, Butler, Jamison, & Haywood. Within monhts the gig become a rebuilding job. At least with Minny he KNOWS what he'd be getting himself into.

Now let's see; wait for Rubio, and hire Flip Saunders. That should do it......NOT!

Considering that the Wolves had their most success ever under Flip, it's not that big of a stretch. Of course, a lot has to happen. The big reason that Rambis hasn't been cut loose is in part due the possible NBA lockout. Why bring on the extra expense of hiring another coach, when you can wait it out if next season isn't played?

i just don't get it -- the guy is not a grade a coach - IMHO - he has coached for 15 years and had 9 seasons over %500 and 3 of those were right after det won a ring - he coached for 1 east conference final and lost - in 15 years the guy has done nothing to brag about

We'll trade you Flip for KLove, straight up.
No?
OK, just take Flip off our hands.
