08:03 AM ET 05.11 | The lockout has given teams more than enough time to ponder their needs via free agency. The Steelers can concentrate their efforts toward re-signing unrestricted free-agent cornerback Ike Taylor when the lockout is lifted. Or, in the event that Taylor signs with another team, finding Taylor's replacement. ... Re-signing Taylor is the Steelers' top priority; however, the Steelers are unlikely to bid on Nnamdi Asomugha, who has a large price tag, if they are unable to retain Taylor. Other Steelers players who are unrestricted free agents include running back Mewelde Moore, guard Trai Essex, defensive end Nick Eason, nose tackle Chris Hoke and linebacker Keyaron Fox. The Steelers need to sign a kicker, after not retaining Shaun Suisham. Potential replacements include unrestricted free agents David Akers, Adam Vinatieri and Ryan Longwell.

They can target him all they want, he'll stay with the Colts.

Yes I think Vinatieri would rather stay in a dome than kick outdoors...he served his time in Boston

Heinz Field is a kickers nightmare with the swirling winds off the river

This would be a smart move. A good kicker gives them another 2-3 wins with all the close games they have.

Oh, and Shawn Suisham is a BUM!

No kicker wants to kick on that field. Toughest in the NFL. It will take big cash to get a good one to go there. That is why the Steelers tagged their PK two years ago.

You got it. That field is not PK friendly.

Heinz Field is where kickers go to die.

and Heinz field is not just any outdoor stadium..it's the worst in the NFL for kickers.

The only difference the lockout makes is that players can't actually sign the contracts they're negotiating improperly during the lockout. It's monkey business as usual.

Longwell is a free agent? he was the only guy on the Viking who knew how to score last year.

That might get him a job in NY, but not playing football.
