Francoeur: Shorten Citi for 'poor David'

08:14 AM ET 05.11 | Jeff Francoeur knows the struggles of the Mets go beyond their cavernous ballpark. But there is one thing the team can do to help its cause, and he wasn't surprised when he heard that playing at cavernous Citi Field finally was getting to David Wright. "Poor David hits the ball to right-center so well and there it's an out," Francoeur said. ... Francoeur didn't waste time knocking his former home field after signing with the Royals in the offseason, and even though it's no longer his problem, the right fielder remains adamant the Mets need to make changes -- to the field, not the team. "They've gotta shorten the park up," Francoeur said. "It's huge. I'm not saying make it a bandbox like Philadelphia, but they have to do something."

I'm sure Joe DiMaggio's plaque in Cooperstown is miraculously shedding tears for poor David...Jose Cruz is spending his retirement raising money to pay for moving Citi Field's fences in, too. The player needs to adjust to the home park, not the other way around. I saw Wright hit 2HRs against the DBacks in NYC a few weeks ago, I think he liked the park that day.

It's not like Francoeur spent 6 years as a Met. The NY media hounding him about the Metsies? See, THAT'S what happens when you play for KC.

Yelling about a ball park is like complaining about having to have a bumper to make a car street legal. It's a non-starter.

Let me guess......you're 17?

Yes, I hear Wright is a BIG fan of dongs................poor David is the achilles heel on my juggernaut fantasy team................I hope you're right, but I see more like 18-20 dingers.

You're reaching. He'll hit 10-12 dingers

Ridiculous. Most ballparks in the majors should have the fences moved out, not in.

Of course I'm reaching, I drafted that POS in the SECOND round.................Wright has all the power of Larry Bowa -- with the wind blowing in...............

He's on the downside of his career. With his bad back, he could use season ending surgery.

Wow. Slow news day, huh?

Thank you Utleys. Appreciate the insight. I'm actually almost 3 times 17 but who's counting.

Man, I wish I had more fingers so I could add that up.
