08:25 AM ET 05.12 | Ed Snider isn't one to mince words. Snider made it perfectly clear on Wednesday: The Flyers' goalie carousel will stop. Now. In an exclusive interview with The Inquirer, Snider, chairman of the Flyers' parent company, Comcast-Spectacor, called the team's recently completed season a "major disappointment," and strongly implied that adding a goalie was high on his priority list. ... Told that the fan base was lamenting the need for a true No. 1 goalie for a few decades, Snider fired back, "I want one, too." He paused. "So either one of the goalies we have has to step up in training camp, or we have to make improvements to make sure it happens. But we are never going to go through the goalie issues we've gone through in the last couple of years."

Around and around we go, Bro.

May 12, 2011  08:39 AM ET

but this is the beauty of Philly hockey - a goaltender controversy.
Unless they can clone Parent or Hextall, I figure there will always be something to grouse about.

Easy to say, but actually pulling it off?

It'll take a 1st rounder and prospects or a Jeff Carter and lower picks to pull a Schneider out of Van or Quick out of LA, I'm sure.

Maybe a sign and trade with Florida for Vokoun?

With Lou signed until the year 3000 the Flyers should be able to get Schneider out of Vancouver.

He's going to Detroit!

Every year this team ignores the fact that they need a solid goaltender. Last year they had the opportunity to sign Nabokov and, instead, they sign Nik Zherdev. And still, every year, Philly fans think they are "built for the playoffs" with a carousel of back-up netminders. If Vokoun is available, who are they going to sign instead...Pavel Demitra?

May 12, 2011  10:38 AM ET

Richards for Gustavsson.

Shouldn't have dumped Gagne for Zherdev, should have taken that money and got a goalie.
Should have also got Roloson.

I dont think anyone knew, or expected, Roloson to have the bounce back year he had. Isles and lightning got lucky there

The Canucks are going to have to move Schneider. He is good enough to start and nobody is going to take Robooby.

Just a question of what they can get for him.

What do you mean bounce back? He was good with the Islanders when there, behind a crappy defense.

And everyone knows he is clutch in the playoffs.

The Flyers were just ignorant thinking they were good enough.

Snider says it like they actually have a choice. Who exactly are the "true" #1's available? When i mean "true" i don't mean fleeting success....i mean sustained.

believe it when i see it

And he also has a bridge to sell ...

RIP Pele Lindberg

Carter to Van-city for Schneider.

I like that. Carter has never held up his end of a bargain in my opinion. I'd like to see him die on the vine in V-Town.

See Pronger is having back surgery for a herniated disc? More than a hand injury as was previously stated....

I see it the same way - if Vancouver loses out again, the last thing they need to add is another soft forward who doesn't do much this time of year.

And yeah, that Pronger surgery sounds serious. They had reported it was his back before either Game 3 or 4, but I can only imagine how awful the pain musta been. Mind you, #66 played with that kind of pain for years...

QUOTE(#4):

I believe Snider. I think next year Philly will sign a crappy 3rd tier starting goalie and stick with him all year. At least I hope they do.Seriously though, doesn't Philly have cap issues that are preventing them from paying a top flight goaler? Wouldn't that mean having to part with some of their high priced talent whether it's part of the goalie deal or not?

Snider addressed the cap issues. He said a couple of salaries would need to be dumped. Snider is not a happy camper. He had a talk with Lavvy and Holmgren and you can bet it was not the most pleasant conversation for those two.

They can sign a good goalie. There is enough depth that they can lose a Carter or a D man to get someone in while Bob develops.
